He wants to play for England because he is not being called by Spain. I don't think that's a good reason to do it (from a supporter point of view).

You wouldn't say the same thing if he were from Nigeria, for example.

You wouldn't say the same thing if he were from Nigeria, for example. nigeria is a commonwealth country and has cultural ties to england. also the nigerian would be a british citizen.and if arteta was nigerian he'd be in their team already anyway. it just so happens he's spanish and can't get in their team.

OK, you wouldn't say that if he were from Burkina Faso, for example.

OK, you wouldn't say that if he were from Burkina Faso, for example. if he was from burkina faso he'd probably be in france not england. to get a work permit to play football in england he'd have to be an international for burkina faso already, so the situation wouldnt arise.

Would we bollocks - every other country in the world seems to be finding ways for foreigners to play for them. We would simply be another country on a already long list.
I'm personally not arsed - rather see the youngsters break through though

england need all the help they can get at the moment. if arteta is happy to play for england then let's select him for the squad. i'm surprised arteta wants to being spanish born and bred really but that's his call. ;D
