I'd like to see Minnie Mouse as one of Jabba's bitches.

If this leads to a "disney stars on ice - the princesses" figure skating thing with some 19-year old dressed up as Princess Leia in return of the jedi, then I completely support this.

"Disney has now confirmed that Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015.
Walt Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger added in a shareholder conference call that the studio also plans to release Episodes 8 and 9, explaining: "Our long-term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years.""
Didn't think that'd ever happen. Still, might be alright if Lucas isn't writing & directing them.

There just HAD to be another 3, was always gonna happen though I thought it would be further down the line. Hopefully they can be brave about who they pick to direct & try to restore some kind of credibility back to the series, but I don't it.
Am I right in thinking the final 3 parts follow return of the jedi? At least that will rule out the entire SHIT cast from the last lot.

Just hope the expanded universe 'emperor isn't dead his spirit goes and inhabits a clone' shit isn't done, though if it isn't they will be short a villain seen as they are all dead.

It'll be after Jedi. I wonder if they'll keep the same characters as the original trilogy and base it on that? But Ford is too old, Hamill is too shit and actor and Fisher is too fat I'd imagine

They probably just shoot it forward, the remains of the empire regrouping on a third death star that was hidden on the dark side of some distant moon.
I'm not a star wars afficianado per se, but I've obviously seen them all, but I was actually thinking about the prequels the other day and was thinking, with possibly the exception of darth maul is there even one cool iconic character introduced in them? Same for the vehicles/weapons.....death star, at ats, millenium falcon etc are all iconic, whats in the prequels..... the pod racers?!

Count Dooku was pretty cool, iconic would be a stretch though. I've read 'a source' say that it'll be an entirely new set of characters for episode 7 which would probably be the best way to go.

Yeah I think it's best for somebody else to start afresh and let whoever they choose to direct to stamp their authority over it.
It was always going to be an almost impossible task to please the millions of die hard Star Wars fans who'd grown up with the series with the prequels but when you look back now it's still unbelievable how badly they fucked almost everything up.

Yeah fair play, as an 'outsider' looking in I was just putting the question out there to the real star wars fans. Tbh I kind of thought of him but the fact I could only remember him as "that Christopher lee character" sort of summed it up.
As a sort of side issue, watching rocky balboa the other day I realised it was missing 3 major things.....a panto-ish baddy, a true rocky fight scene and, probably most of all, some classic 80's style life affirming training music

Totally, especially as the basic story .....anakins fall to the dark side .....was already there and quite an exciting idea, coupled with being able to see younger versions of well loved characters. it was like taking a penalty with an open goal and fluffing it

As a sort of side issue, watching rocky balboa the other day I realised it was missing 3 major things.....a panto-ish baddy, a true rocky fight scene and, probably most of all, some classic 80's style life affirming training music I'm sure you may of heard/seen but theres some guy who did in depth reviews/piss takes of the 3 prequels on the net (each one lasts about an hour) & he sums up what you just said about only remembering him as the Christopher Lee character by asking a bunch of people to name 3 different things about star Wars characters without describing what they look like. He asks them about the classic characters like Han Solo and they all easily describe different things about his character then he asks them about people from the prequels and almost everybody shrugged their shoulders and struggled to give any sort of answer. Rocky Balboa I think was surprisingly really good. I rank it as maybe the 4th best in the series. I don't think in the 2000's you could get away with using a cheesey 80's style song without it becoming pure self parody.
