There's a 192 web rip on waffles and what.cd. Think I'll wait for a decent rip.

I can't resist either I really want to download it. I've heard "Lose Yourself" is one of the standout tracks from it.. everybody seems to be wanking to it.

Wise choice. Wonder how long that'll be?
I've had a few listens of this rip through my laptop speakers but reserving all judgement until there's a better rip I can pump straight into my ears.

Okay so Lose Yourself is totally epic. It came on while I was doing some dishes there and I must've punched the air about 17 times.
Huge tune.

I need to spend more time with it tbh. The pacing of the record seems odd to me and it doesn't feel like an album.
So far, the standout tracks for me are:
Fire Walker Returning Lullaby Lose Yourself
Let The Day Begin has also grew on me a lot.

'Fire Walker' - Love the delicate intro and bass kicking in, can definitely see this being used as a set opener. Robs vocals are spot on as well. 7/10 'Let The Day Begin' - When I first heard this I thought it was decent but it's really grown on me since then, Pete's guitar sounds a bit Edge like, but it's a cover so i'll let him off. 8/10 'Returning' - Definitely up there with my favourite tunes on the album. The drums are brilliant, and I just love the feel of the song. Robs vocals are heartbreaking at certain points and yet it's really uplifting in places as well. 9/10 'Lullaby' - Another of my favourite tunes on the record, has a summery feel to it. Sounds like an early Oasis b-side to me. 9/10 'Hate The Taste' - It's from here the album goes a bit downhill. Sounds like the kind of tune they have written a dozen times already, and while I would probably have loved it on one of their earlier records I'm board hearing them now. 5/10 'Rival' - The intro reminds me of 'Sleep Now In The Fire' by Rage Against The Machine, which isn't a good thing. The rest doesn't really do it for me either. 5/10 'Teenage Disease' - The less said about this the better, the vocals are terrible as well, that last line ... 2/10 'Some Kind Of Ghost' - Back on track with this tune, love the organ on this, also nice to hear Peter singing one of the slower tunes, i feel bad for hating most of the tracks he's on, and it's not a slight on him as a songwriter or a singer because i think he's fantastic but most of his tunes on this record are poor, this one's good though. 7/10 'Sometimes The Light' - The melody sounds like a complete rip off of another song but i just can't place it, bit of a throwaway song, has a nice sound to it but doesn't really go anywhere. 6/10 'Funny Games' - Monster bass on this, apart from that, i don't know, i didn't dislike it but i'm in no rush to hear it again. 5/10 'Sell It' - Probably Peter's best tune on the record, love his guitar on this and the bass is brilliant as well. 8/10 'Lose Yourself' - Without a doubt the undisputed highlight of the record. Up there with their best tunes. 9/10 Overall it's a bit of a mishmash of a record, I love all the slower more delicate sounding tunes and could do without the heavier ones. I suppose like Welshylad i'm just dying to hear them make another record in a similar vein to 'Howl', because that record might just be my favourite album ever. 'Specter ...' does go that way in places but the second quarter of the album (bar 'Lullaby') just lets it down in my opinion. Overall i'd give it 7/10.

Good review, SJ.
About Hate The Taste / Rival / Teenage Disease, the production feels a little too muddy. But then again, it could just be the 192 rip.
I'm not sure if my opinion on those tracks will change with a better quality rip, but right now, I'd rate them around 5 or 6 out of 10. Hate The Taste & Rival sound like throwaway tracks from Take Them On, On your Own. They may grow on me but I doubt it at this stage.
I think 7/10 is an absolutely fair rating.
Waiting with baited breath for Karl's opinion on this.
