The National. Just can't stand his voice. Plus all their songs are like 10 minutes long.

This is topical but I've never got on with SFA. God knows I've tried cos EVERYONE I respect taste wise loves them.
I don't know if I've been unlucky with what I've listened to (what is considered their best album?) but they've never chimed with me. But, I do like Gruff's solo stuff and I gave Mwng a listen the other day and it was probably the best thing I've heard by them (perhaps it's a lyrics things?).
I want to love them and will keep trying. So, SFA fans of soapbox, point me in the right direction and make me like them.

Radiohead. As much as I enjoy a couple of their tunes and their sound and even the song with PJ Harvey, it's the pretentious wanky persona of the individuals that I can't ever get over. I mean for starters, who calls themselves Thom with a H?

PS - I too voted Greens and I still think they're dicks. Justification.

I mean for starters, who calls themselves Thom with a H? I have a Nordic colleague who insists on calling me "Thom" when she's sending me emails. I've told her that the H isn't necessary, and that it actually winds me up, but she continues to do it. She is called Anette, so, in effort to try and make her realize how annoying misspelling someones name can be I always refer to her as "Anoot" in my email replies.

I'd say Rings Around The World, it's them at their most ambitious. A good mixture of pop songs, their more weird moments & some great lyrics throughout. Also mixed in 5.1 dolby surround sound! If you like Gruff's last few solo records then I'd find it hard to believe that you wouldn't get enjoyment from records like Rings, Phantom Power & Hey Venus.

I would nominate Radiator as the first SFA album proper to try, but for a taster download their Singles collection. It's tune after tune.
