I bet Moyes comes in as assistant for 1 year and then takes over after next season.

Be funny if he says "I regretfully DO NOT RETIRE" then stands on the desk doing DX crotch chops.

the timing is a surprise. thought he'd go on another year or two. ;D done an awesome job tbh. the impressive thing is united's dominance since chelsea's money come in. 5 out of last 7 titles since chelsea & then city's spending. makes ya sick.

@ a DX Fergie. Somebody Photoshop that shit up. Big day for football, this. A sad one, too. Gutted to see him finally stepping down. The man had his downfalls but he is undoubtedly one of the greatest ever. Hope they go for Mourinho but can't see it.

Need the universe to balance this sad news out with a Beady Eye leak.
COME ON, UNIVERSE!

As good as Moyes has been for Everton he'd be a fair old risk surely? Plenty of examples of managers doing well on smaller budgets, but not managing to cope with bigger budgets, expectations and egos.

I didn't expect this, a truly historic moment. I always thought Mourinho would substitute him but it seemed like he was waiting for Chelsea to qualificate for the Champions league. Maybe he was just waiting for this announcement.

What a legend. Best there ever was and best there ever will be. Game will feel so different now without Fergie involved

It does seem like awfully convenient timing with regards to the whole Mourinho thing, it's now or never if they want him you would think.
Wouldn't surprise me if Fergie has agreed to step down now rather than in say, a year or two, so that they can try and tempt Mourinho before he goes back to Chelsea?

If they is smart they let Mourinho join Chelsea, let him put everyone on the transfer list and put john terry in goal and then watch him get sacked. Then sign him. Extra win.

It would be even funnier if he stayed here. Mourinho has been in full scythe mode lately with no parachutes, he has charged against nearly every living thing of his team, bar Diego Lopez and Varane.
