Yeah, was really disappointed with him live- although it was on a massive festival stage. Might be a different story in a decent venue

New Hold Steady is pretty good. I also decided to give the new Tokyo Police Club album a try. What happened to them? I'd not listened to anything from them since their first EP which I really liked but they now sound like a completely different band.
New Mac DeMarco album is real good. I'd seen his name mentioned here and there over the last year or so but never felt inclined to check him out. Off the back on this new one, I've also been listening to his his last album which is also excellent.

New Howler is also out, their debut grow a bit on me and it's a favourite of some friends.

Also, the Horrors front is quiet, does that mean there are no fans? Early opinion is it's alrightish but it sounds too much like Skying, whereas until now they had reinvented themselves with each album.

I always wait until things leak properly onto Exy as I can't be doing with webrips & whatnot. Though I'll be ecstatic if they've made a Skying Vol II. I'm loving the new Hold Steady record. I tried them out about five years ago & they wasn't my thing then. Since then I've become the sort of middle aged cunt that listens to Springsteen & Tom Petty so now they sound AWESOME! To me it sounds like The Boss using Morrissey's band of the past 10 years or so. Going to slowly work my way through their back catalogue as I'd imagine they have even better albums. Something I've been LOVING is "oddments" by Australian band "King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard". Now I know they sound like one of those made up bands HEHE makes up but jesus christ are they addictive. It reminds me of the eclectic mishmash that the Go! Team did - though where as the Go! Team used Hip-Hop as their spring board King Gizzard uses Psych-pop/garage-rock. There's all different types of tunes from trippy ballads to freak-outs to 17 second pieces of chaos. Sounds like what I'd imagine The Black Lips to sound like if they collaborated with The Flaming Lips. Stream kinggizzardandthelizardwizard.com/Albums on Exy too.

yeah king gizzard and the lizard wizard were one of the many aussie bands i checked out last year when i had my big aussie band phase started by jackson scott and scott and charlene's wedding. id reccommend their 12 bar bruise debut album as even better than the new one.
the new horrors was decent on the first listen but didnt seem as good as the previous two albums.
one album thats really grown on me this year is the debut from eagulls. on the first listen i wasnt too impressed but i keep coming back to it and really enjoy it now - looking forward to seeing them live on sunday supporting suede at the albert hall.

Dunno that one but TCOTU strippers are shit, you don't even get a lapdance! That was £20 wasted. Don't think I'll be out until 5 or so on Sunday, can't afford to make a day of it at the moment. Not at all familiar with that end of town but I'll PM you my number and we can work something out.

there's no boozers whatsoever by the albert hall by the way. best off meeting somewhere else then tubing it over just before the gig.

Yeah, got just about the last ticket going. Wouldn't usually pay that much but I've never seen them before and it's not often you get to hear Dog Man Star in full. I stay in Kentish Town so I can get anywhere pretty easily.

You're better off going Sports Bar if you want a Strippers out East. They will basically grab your nob and rub your face in their bangers before any money has changed hands.
There's a row of hotels with decent bars in next to Royal Albert Hall. Went to one of before Noël in 2006 and Serge was in there drinking and they were banging out the tunes. Went back there a few years later and neither was present. You can't win with the Royal Albert Hall really.

Went in the sports bar once, women were horrible. I'm a much bigger fan of the horns and Brown's

Having said that, I was offered a blowie before I'd even ordered a drink in sports bar.

As long as it's better than The White Horse - last time I was in there there was a bird with a full sized tattoo of Kurt Cobain's face above her clunge.
