Album is boring but fuck, The Right Stuff is REALLY good. It's slinky and actually pretty fucking sexy. Wow. Almost every single time Noel steps out of his comfort zone, he's brilliant. Which makes his usual stuff all the more frustrating.

Noel has always written songs about nothing Is this actually a myth? To me there's no difference between sentiment and lyrical content and he nailed it throughout the Oasis years. I mean, who can't relate to Cigarettes & Alcohol in some way? I also realised quite recently that the second verse to Stay Young is actually my favourite of all time. Life's balance, innit.

1) riverman - 7.5/10 Like it. 2) in the heat of the moment - 4/10 Bland, flat and shit. 3) the girl with the x ray eyes - 6/10 Its alright 4) lock all the doors - 5/10 Supposed to sound like Oasis? One of those tunes Liam would have dragged out of mediocrity. 5) the dying light - 6/10 Noel on auto pilot. 6) the right stuff - 8.5/10 Best thing on it. 7) while the song remains the same - 6/10 So does your approach to music and being a cunt. 8) the mexican - 0/10 Fuck off Noel. 9) you know we can't go back - 6/10 So how about going forward Noel you cunt. Not bad. 10) Ballad of the mighty I - 8/10 Yeah this is pretty good. bonus: revolution song - 4/10 Demo was almost cack. This definitely is. do the damage - 7/10 Should have been on the album. freaky teeth - 5/10 Prefer House of The Rising Sun tbh.

The Mexican - or how to take Whatever Happened To My Rock'n'Roll and turn it into shit
The Girl with X-Ray Eyes sounds quite like Bowie but it doesn't work on Noel's voice

Thoughts on the record:
Riverman: Lackluster start to the record, I like the sax towards the end but nothing too memorable for a opener. 6 Heat Of The Moment: Has grown on me a bit though I'm still not overly keen on it. 6.5 the Girl with x-ray eyes: Lyrics are shit, plods along.. I should hate this but when he sings the SPACE AND TIIIME bit I go awww and remember back to when I used to think Noel was the king of the universe. Is solid 6.5 Lock All The Doors: HERE WE GO, sounds like when he used to do shit like Full On and everybody would moan and I'd come out and proclaim that it was the nuts. Well this is the nuts, a fucking real guitar solo as well! IMAGINE LIAM SINGING THIS!!!!!!! 8 dying of the light: really reminds me of the Verve's weeping willow. I like the arrangements on this, I've no idea who is in his band anymore or who plays on this record but I really like the keyboards (IS IT WELLER?) anyway, I dig this, moody little number. 7 The Right Stuff: Excellent shit, like everyone else has said really. Tho admit it, the real reason everyone loves this so much is because the female vox are high enough that it censors out Noels annoying voice. Could imagine his tune being used on true detective, moody shit, YES TO THE SAX, YES TO THE GUITAR SOLO, another lovely arrangement too. 8.5 while the song remains the same: flows well after the right stuff but is a bit too much of a plodder. I do like the last minute when the guitars and shit come in but it needs more 6 The Mexican: that riff sounds like Josh Holme farting underwater. I don't mind it when it picks up a bit but it'd have to be sped up a good third and have Liam singing for it to be even worthwhile. The only stinker on here 4 you know we can't go back: OHHH YES. It's just so fucking big, makes me feel 18 again like I'm listening to I hope I think I know & Stay Young. Have to say it again but IMAGINE LIAM SINGING THIS ONE. Even with Noel I love it. Is it a single? If not it should be. I would have released this 3 times. Love this track. 9 the ballad of mighty I: Works really well as the album closer. 7
Overall, probably better than his first record. I'd give it a 7.5. The most consistent post-Oasis record though I'd choose Beady Eye's best moments over most of Noels anyday. Well done Noel, you are still a cunt but I'm starting to come around to you again, I liked the interview with the Hungarian kid. Not enough to make me throw in my BDI team leader badge and form the N.W.O (Noel World Order) with Axl & Jimmy.
Definitely the end of the solo years. We all know full well that he'll tour all this year, have 2016 off and then the huge Oasis comeback shows will happen in 2017 so thats the end of that. Four frustrating albums. A few moments where it felt like they were going to take chances (Flick Of The Finger, The Right Stuff), some classic Oasisy songs (Four Letter Word, You Know We Can't go back), a bunch of enjoyable enough yet forgettable shit, good songs wasted as B-sides & then some real stinkers. TBH when I think about it, nothing really different than what we got post SOTSOG anyway.
Gonna make my ultimate lost Oasis record guys cos I love doing shit like that!
