if u are voting for High Fidelity over Oldboy is because u havent seen Oldboy.... nuff said Never understood the love for High Fidelity, it's essentially a slightly better than average rom-com with a few indie references thrown in, OMG THEY MENTION THE BETA BAND. I think it's a decent film but seriously come on, take away the little rock n roll quotes & the majority of people that champion it wouldn't even be interested. |

Well it's an alright film but not that great indeed. But when you're talking about 'music films' it's always better than Almost Famous, what a pile of crap that is  . High Fidelity is much more than music references and such, although it is a big part of why I like it ("some people never really got over the night their band opened up for Nirvana, I guess I never really got over Charlie"--come on, that's awesome!). But no, for me it's about John Cusack giving his best performance to date, he's absolutely brilliant in it; the other characters are so good as well, love their chemistry. And his little monologues to the camera  . Good stuff. Plus it's the one film where Jack Black can play Jack Black and not get silly and repetitive. "A COSBY SWEATAHH!!" |
