rifles last night in Rochester Was a bit weird, only about 100 people there, the audience looked like the cast of this is england 86. good set, played the hits, good time. 7.5 What's the script with the two guys that left? They got anyone new in? I've been wanting to see them live for a good while and the'yre touring with Weller in Dec and playing the SECC but its a terrible venue.

Nah they've not yet as far as I know. It was just the two of them acoustic with their mate deano on keyboard.
They'll easily replace the other two guys, they will do a big tour next year when the 3rd album is out.

Primal scream last night
Jesus fucking christ, it was unbelievable. Probably the gig of the fucking year. Never been to the olympia, 12,000 people! I've seen the scream at astoria when there was tickets on the door still. Looked awful when I got in there, thought this is gonna be shit, 4.10 for a bottle of fucking carlsburg as well. They came on at 8 and did a 45 minute greatest hits set which was good but the crowd were so poor, was like watching a support act. Andrew Weatherall did a 25 minute DJ set which basically meant the whole venue went for a piss or to the bar. Then the scream came back, opened up with moving on up which was great but then the gig was just sensational. Slip Inside this house sounded amazing, was worried the sound wouldn't be great being at a dump but it was really loud and mani's bass was vibrating through my feet & hair, was real powerful. All I can say is they are touring it next year round the country, make sure you get a ticket. 10/10

Can't wait to see the Scream in Februray, it will be massive. Just hearing Slip Inside This House will be worth the price of the ticket.
Last couple of gigs I've been at:
Randolph's Leap @ the Captain's Rest
- Glasgow folk-popsters first EP launch. Really charming band. 7.
The Phantom Band - Oran Mor
Unbelieveable how no one on here pays them any attention, despite their debut being out over a year now. Fantastic show, their second LP The Wants isn't as immediate as the first, but it's a grower and came across really well live. Catch them if you can, a turely unique band with a number of fucking epic tunes.

Teenage Fanclub
There's surely something wrong in my life if those lads are coming to my city and I can't find anyone to come with me (although I can understand it was a little expensive and quite late for being a mid-week gig). Anyway, not that I'm the biggest fan but they are really good at what they do, and seeing "Don't Look Back", "Ain't It Enough", "Everything Flows", "About You", "Baby Lee", etc. is priceless. Being alone and a little tired was a little down though, but there was a nice Beatles doc screening that make the wait less boring. All and all, great night.
7.5/10

Where abouts are you Barny? I saw Television personalities in Barcelona a couple of years ago. The are a 'cult' band in the uk though they don't have enough fans to call it a cult as soon as they play pubs most weeks. I see they were playing when I was on holiday and went along, it was 25 euro's on the door. I couldn't fucking believe it. I think the promoter thought they were a popular band because I saw the same venue had Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers & Mando Diao playing a few months after but still I was surprised there was about 250/300 people there.
I payed 5 quid to see them a few months before that with Kevin.

If you're asking me where I live, I'm from Valencia I remember you saying that TV Personalities thing when I reviewed their terrible gig at Benicassim. I was quite keen on seeing them but Dan Treacy was incredibly drunk and fucked up all the gig, he started singing bits of The Killers songs here and then too. The drummer was fuckin' annoyed. There were like a hundred people there at the start, and like 10 at the end of it

teenage fanclub at nosturi, helsinki a couple weeks ago. It was nice, I went there with my gf and her friends. It was nice, they played about four or five songs off their new record..Ive not been into themntheir music so much but Ive started to listen to their albums a bit more right now after this gig. This was the second time I saw them here in Finland. I was sober this time and I enjoyed much more their music this time. I was a bit wasted the first time I saw them. Ive always thought they were a bit average but now I have really enjoyed their music and I should carry on to enjoy these scottish bastards! =)

The Futureheads last night @ the brixton Jamm
They supported biffy clyro at wembley arena then came straight to Brixton for this gig. I got there as I was told they would be on by 10pm only to find they were not due on until half 12 so I ended up seeing tons of local shit support acts. Wh Why Peaches were half decent, a mix of shoegaze & hiphop, well they were better than the other bands anyway. Futureheads were ace, venue was only about half full, about 100 people there which is such a shame what a top fucking band. Quick 50 minute set, hit after hit, great stuff 8

The Walkmen last week 9/10. Easily the best of the two times Ive seen em. Hamilton whateverhislastnameisthaticantremember is a helluva vocalist. They were tight and just great.
School of Seven Bells and new band Tennis opened, both of which I like on record, but the live mixes were fucking awful 6/10 and 5/10
Tonight I went and saw Chief (headlined) who were decent, but really fucking bland. The openers were great though lol Young Buffalo 9/10 (check them fucking out) and The Dig 7/10. Chief 5/10.

just got in from seeing billy bragg. support was shite, he was excellent.
id like to thank mahoney my brother for persuading me to go, you were right he was well worth 20 notes. did a 2 hour set featuring all the good stuff and some newies. youre right though karl, i can see why some people would get pissed off with all the political preaching between songs but i loved it. gonna go smash up some tories now.
8/10
