Just to confirm, Karl is spreading lies about Nadine Shah's band. It's the same old men as usual!

all points east yesterday with popular forum members krburg, mahoney and rod.
firstly it didn't feel right arriving at all points east without a catch up with titchjuicy. sort this out next year plz m8.
started the day with a gilles peterson dj set. i was excited to see him as i've become quite obsessed with him the past year or so and he's really shaped a lot of what i've been listening to recently (i didn't know gilles likes a load of 3rd rate britop i hear you cry!) he played some decent stuff but fell victim to being first up so the crowd was a bit too chilled. would have been better later in the day and playing a bit more of an upbeat set.
sofia kourtesis was next. quite liked her album so was interested to see her live. good set. bit eurovision at times but in a good way. she stacked it at one point which was funny to see.
then went to see jockstrap on the mainstage. i thought this got off to an ok start but quickly went downhill. probably fell victim to being on the mainstage and would have been better in the tent but i won't be in a rush to see them again.
floating points up next in the tent and this was banging. unfortunately there were slight crossovers with all the acts we wanted to see so he had already started by the time we got there which meant the tent was pretty busy and we felt a bit on the periphery. liked this a lot but wish i was more involved down the front. due to this karl got his way and we all left slightly early to get to pixies.
pixies played a solid set. not the best time i've seen them but got the hits out and you can't go wrong with those hits really.
lcd soundsystem to finish the day. my first time seeing them and another big act ticked off my list of must sees. didn't disappoint. sound can sometimes be a bit dodgy at all points east but i thought it was fine for these. just a really banging set with murphy (james, not eddie) in good voice.

Teenage Fanclub / Death Cab for Cutie / The Postal Service @ Cardiff Arena
Been waiting for over 20 years to see the Ben Gibbard double act!
I had no idea TF were still around, let alone that i'd get to see them in Cardiff of all places. I was a few shots and pints in by the time Death Cab came on, the audience were boring AF (seems to be the norm in most gigs I've been to in this country - people just standing around unable to move to the music, ridiculous!) I was absolutely smashed before Death Cab were done, so husband and I were kicked out of the venue because Miss Thing over here couldn't handle her drinks  Left the arena and went back to the pub. I have zero recollection of the trip back to Bristol, and nursed a shitty hangover all day yesterday. I didnt even get to see The Postal Service FFS
10/10

Good to hear you’re still madferit, Ana. This thread could do with some action, and not just Karl moaning about train times out to the sticks.

Baxter Dury at Norwich Waterfront tonight.
Wow this was pretty mind-blowing. I've seen him before but this was a real step up. Sound was the best I've ever heard in the venue. Really loud to the point where my ears are fucking hurting now but crystal clear too. Baxter was loving it too, milking it to 100% and just had a real presence and aggression to him like those early Sleaford Mods gigs too.
Revival Season supported, an American hip hop duo whose album I've really enjoyed. They were pretty good but you could tell half of the crowd weren't sure. Quite a few old folk walked out during their set but I had a good time.

The Tallest Man On Earth - last saw him like 8 years ago and once I knew it was a solo performance ai was a bit worried. Nevermind, for the first 45 minutes it felt like one of the best shows I have ever seen, what a guy and played nearly all my favourites too. God bless him

O. last neet at Rich Mix. They're a hell of a live act & keep getting better. The album is boring as shit, they'll always be one of those acts that are best experienced live. Black Fondu opened, just a press play on laptop and dance and scream type deal but I appreciated his energy.

the k's at norwich waterfront tonight.
proper music for proper lads. lairy crowd singing football songs all night. the night was curated by 6music dj chris hawkins who did a dj set between bands where he played every obvious indie banger you could think of while walking up and down the stage milking the crowd despite clearly no cunt knowing who he was. not nineteen forever got the biggest reaction FYI. interestingly he played wonderwall and it was met with a sea of boos. i'm guessing a fair few people pissed off at not getting tickets for the big O

Pulp in Toronto last night. If the oasis reunion is HALF as good as this, I’ll be thrilled. Genuinely one of the best shows I’ve seen in the last decade. Everyone was amped to see them, as I think it was their first appearance in Toronto in 25+ years. Jarvis was exactly as Jarvis as you’d hope, the setlist was a dream, they did a new song. Just genuinely delightful. 10/10

Arab Strap @ The Empire, Belfast
Decided to go to this at the last minute (I’d another commitment but I fucked that off) and picked up a resell ticket on everyone’s favourite site Ticketmaster for a mere £15.00.
Didn’t know what to expect, Aidan Moffett was pretty subdued the whole night but loosened up towards the end, the Stella’s must have kicked in by then. Malcom stood in the shadows doing his thing.
As for the show they did pretty much the entire new album, three from As Days Get Dark’ and a couple of older tunes. It was incredible, crowd were bang up for it, but quiet and respectful for the quieter numbers.
Arab Strap were a band I’d heard about but never heard until about 18 months ago, now I’m obsessed with them.
Highlights were ‘New Birds’ ‘The Turning Of The Bones’ ‘Fable Of The Urban Fox’ and ‘Bliss’.

Weller last night in Toronto. Definitely the 2nd best show I’ve seen at that venue this week! Pleasantly surprised that it was sold out, but the crowd was definitely tamer (and older) than pulp. He played a shit ton of “new” songs and at least 4 style council songs. Weird mix but he still sounds great and the band was in great form. Not the best I’ve seen him but still, an average weller show is still top notch. 8/10
