how come its so important to you to a) try to demean other peoples jobs (sometimes for the mere fact of having a job) b) have strangers who think you are a bellend believe you have a great life. why are these such constant themes of yours? why are you so angry at me? still frustrated that my life's great and yours' fucking shit? go back to work, dickhead

Next year I am definitely going to start going to smaller gigs again & hopefully see loads of new bands. Last few years I'm just seeing big acts with 20 year careers & paying 30 quid a pop. I miss the days of tiny gigs. and how can you miss 'the days of tiny gigs' ( ) when they've never gone away? It was pretty obvious that I meant I miss seeing bands play in smaller venues rather than there are no actual small gigs anymore you thick cunt. Nice to see you are still following me around the board looking for every tiny opportunity to try and throw an insult my way, I must of made you so mad.

Though if I wanted to go see a small gig I could always go see Toby's band Just his parents and his inbred cousins there watching him. Used to be a +1 but now he's Nan's dead.

liverpool is blessed with one of the best gig venues in the world (the kazimier) and theres nothing better than a band on top form selling this place out.

Josh T. Pearson @ The Barbican last night
Really good night was had. First time ever seeing a performance at the barbican. Horrible building, so dated & dull looking but the performance hall is great & I was 2 rows back which was sweet. There was four support acts which all did 3/4 songs each which I thought was a great idea. Play your best songs and fuck off! All four supports were enjoyable too. Big Deal were a bit like a stripped down Yuck. We Three & The Death Rattle were ace, lazy comparison would be the Kills. Cold Specks nice soulful folky stuff & Richard Warren one man with a guitar, nick cave style vocals and a mean sounding acoustic.
Was great to finally see Josh T. Pearson, one of my albums of the year. Probably only played 7 songs but with most of them being 10 minutes + it was a lengthy set. Plus he told a bunch of bad jokes which turned out to be much funnier than it should of been. He's releasing a Christmas EP through rough trade (also Gruff has one out soon) which should be sweet. 8

Kings of Convenience It's like listening to their records, while actually drooling cause Erlend Oye's shining ginger locks and toothy smile are upon you. Great atmosphere, good support act, shitty midget girl standing in front of me holding her camera up to my eyeline cause she was a midget and BB chatting the whole time. WTF. 8/10

Fleet Foxes + Vetiver on Friday
Vetiver opened. If they were the only band on Earth, I'd not mind to give all my attention to them and would probably enjoy it. But they aren't, and that makes them not very interesting. 5/10
Fleet Foxes are a band I love, but that feeling has been reduced a bit lately. Just like the second record, the performance was exactly like it should have been but felt a little flat. Perfectly flat I'd say. And Mykonos came too early imo. Still it had some brilliant moments and those harmonies are simply heavenly, don't know if it's an innate talent or they work hard as fuck to get that perfection. I'd seriously pay with my gallbladder to have them in my dining room playing for me. So 7.5/10.
Saw Noel on Saturday. He's another kind of genius, but a genius nonetheless. He shits singalong moments. Even with songs that I don't care that much, I couldn't help but let myself go in that silly frenzy. Didn't like the band too much, but we weren't really close so couldn't really see them. But it was a little sad, coming close to karaoke, it was not about the performance at all, but fuck, those songs are good. And Supersonic out, please, Rapture in. 8/10

One of the few positives people seem to take from Noel's solo gigs are the number of "sing-along" moments. Are you really that desperate to hear Oasis tracks that you stomach a Noel sung version of Supersonic? I'd rather not hear them at all frankly. Anyway, Stevie Jackson @ King Tuts on Friday night. Rod was indeed smashed. The number of pubs on Sauchiehall Street that refused him entry is evidence of that Stevie's gig was top, a solid 8. Check out this song of his, top top tune:

tonight i saw...
THE VACCINES supported by frankie and the heartstrings and howler.
proper good line up this, was excited by all 3 bands and none disappointed. howler i started a thread about on here about 6 months ago, they sound a bit like a strokes covers band right now but clearly have a lot of potential. frankie and the heartstrings ive always found to be a fun live band even if the lp wasnt great, hes a good frontman and they have some good tunes. as for the vaccines well as this summers festivals proved they are turning into a top notch live band and the new songs they played tonight showed promise that soon they will have a set long enough and of a good enough quality to headline the huge shows themself.
8.5/10

I like the Vaccines live and on record. I think it helps that there are so few new mainstream indie bands these days. If the second album has a few hits on it they're gonna be real big live next year.

Went to the Lexington last night. Was a competition gig with Gruff Rhys & Josh T. Pearson, they also let the first 25 people there in as well so I got down early and made sure I'd get into the gig. Really great night. Josh was fantastic again & I've not seen Gruff on this Hotel Shampoo tour despite him doing a fair few TCOTU gigs. Needless to say he didn't disappoint. Pretty much did a greatest hits set of his 3 solo LP's. I think some of his stuff freaked out some of the competition winners who didn't know what they were seeing Really love the Lexington, great size venue, downstairs pub is good, drinks are reasonably priced & they play cool music in there. Gonna go see Gruff again tomorrow at that artrocker gig with the jim jones revue (& DJ sets from Tim burgess, jim reid & GARY NEWMAN). Tasty weekend ahead, saturday the kills with josh t pearson then sunday de la soul. Should be sweet I'm only going so I can post about it here, hope Tobe has something to say!
