I saw it last night, WOW, What a complete waste of time. The entire film's plot, look away if you are planning on seeing it though believe you me 1: you are missing nothing, 2: I am doing you a favour. WE ARE IN A DREAM IT CAN'T BE YES THE SUBCONSCIOUS OF WHOS DREAM? A DREAM IN A DREAM? OH WE ARE AWAKE NO WE'RE NOT WE ARE IN A DREAM LOL LETS SEE HOW MANY TIMES WE CAN SAY DREAM IN THE NEXT SCENE LOL I JUST HAD A DREAM THAT I SAW TOY STORY 3 LOL So we are thrown into the story at 100 miles per hour and it remains that way from the start to the finish. Not at any point is there any remotely interesting character development. All we know is that LEO has lost his wife and kids which is essentially the same deal we get with Shutter Island which means LEO can do his confused hamster look another 276 times in this film as well. This wasn't enough for me to really care what happened to him, so first of all we have a massive problem, I don't give a shit about the main character. Not that Leo is bad, he puts in another solid performance as always but as usual just solid nothing more. Ken Watanabe who plays Saito & the dude from 28 days later also give good performances & I liked parts of the shootout in the snow... this is where anything remotely good about the film ends. The Bird from Juno, completely out of her depth, totally miscast, stick to your silly indie comedies. Not helped by the fact she has zero back story, Toryboy Micheal Cane introduces her 'shes good at puzzles lmao' & we see her do a couple of silly pencil drawings and are expected to believe that she is willing to be put into these ridiculous long dreams where she can risk her life? Out nowhere she really cares about LEO's problems? Why? No reason, just the bird from Juno is big money right now so people will enjoy watching her however ridiculous her character may be. Gorden-Levitt manages to be even more plastic an emotionless as he was in Brick which is quite some achievement then you have Tom Hardly, pathetic accent, I guess meant to be some kind of comedy relief in parts yet just came across as a complete useless cunt. Terrible flashy editing that ruins almost every action scene, 'lets shoot a gun firing' CHOP 'lets have juno say DREAM twice quickly' CHOP 'how about a car smashing up' CHOP 'LEO, CAN U SAY DREAM FOR US? 'LOL OK, DREAM!' -insert silly Matrix ripoff fight scene I really don't understand what people see in this film, Do people really come away from Inception thinking they've seen something groundbreaking, something that really caught them by surprise? I refuse to accept the idea that we should just forget the 1000 plot holes and just go along for the ride because the ride was pretty much dull anyway. What am I supposed to get from repeat viewings apart from a headache from the flashy editing. This is a terrible film for the sort of people that liked the matrix because they thought it was so damn clever, completely dull, lifeless movie that quite obviously isn't as good as toy story 3. I know new films always go high on imdb but a 9.3 LOL better than the Shining? Better than once apon a time in the west LOL I struggle to think of a modern big blockbuster I've disliked more in the past few years 3/10 Appart from that, really enjoyable film if you don't over-analyze it. Or even if you do. Nolan did it again, there aren't many like him these days. 8/10

Matrix is fuckin' good tbh, a modern classic. Reloaded and whatever-was-the-name-of-the-other-one were quite shit though. Quite excited with this one, seeing it this weekend, everything Nolan has touched has been pure gold to me. The name-of-the-other-one was Revolutions! Reloaded and Revolutions are essentially one big movie and i came to adore every second in Revolutions. In terms of artistic mastery it rivals anything Michelangelo did to the sistine chapel seiling, imo. I remember though, when i first watched it in the cinema, i came out disappointed. I thought the ending was confusing and somehow unsatisfying. Now however, i think it's all genius and just perfect as it is. Gonna watch Inception later. Doubt that it'll be very great. I expect something similar to Vanilla Sky (which was decent).

yeah, the Juno part kinda bugs me too. We realised that she was something of a genius and would be perfect for creating dream scenarios. now that i think about it, it doesnt bug me that much. -"hey master, I need a good dream creator" -"this ones perfect, she makes good dreams. try her on some jigsaw puzzles" -"thank you, lets not give her any more information though. or what the hell, she doesnt want to give up the dreamworld ones shes tried it. cheers for that master, ruining my life lol" -"lol, she was my daughter too" -"lol yeah, get one pupil you dont like" -"first ones free"

Only got around to catching this recently. Not sure what to make of it as there are so many theories swirling around: "I thought that Inception was very easy to understand. Everything before he wakes on the plane is a dream and he knows no one on the plane. The movie is about him going through the final stages of grief over his wifes death. The two riddles are clear: the train riddle talks about a journey with no end destination planned (marriage). Cobb expected to spend his life with Mal, but the journey ended too soon. The second riddle is the logic he must accept: life goes on and you cannot live off of a memory.
Ariadne tells Cobb that dreams are more about emotions than visuals. The scene where Mal commits suicide is how Cobb feels inside as he deals with her death and not how she really died. At the end when Cobb is getting to acceptance he walks in and sees her with a knife. This is because he now sees her memory as a threat to his happiness and realizes that she is not enough to live the rest of his life on; he cannot live on a memory alone. Cobb’s dream about being chased around the world by anonymous corporations is exactly the same criminal feeling a man would have if his wife committed suicide: everyone would be supportive but inside wonder what he did or didn’t do to cause her to go over the edge.
At no point is Cobb antagonistic to Mal throughout the dream because he loves her. Many times his anger and pain are turned around such as when she yells at him and Ariadne in the elevator “You said we’d grow old together!”. When you love someone deeply you can never view them in a negative light.
Characters like Fischer are great opposites that highlight Cobb’s problem: Fischer has everything to gain by his fathers death but wants nothing more than to know the he loved him. Cobb knew his wife loved him and had everything to lose by her death. Ariadne and Arthur represent younger and more idealistic versions of Cobb and Mal. The old men living in the dream world off thoughts are what Cobb has to fear most."
"Has nobody grasped the fact that his totum in the movie that shows he is not dreaming, isnt his totum! Its molls totum so he DOESNT know how it should feel. So thats why it kept spinning at the end. He is still dreaming. Also take that maybe he is in a room like all those sedated people. Remember the one man says “and who are you to judge” because maybe cobb and all the players are in a room sedated. Maybe the other players in the movie are trying to break into cobbs subconcious. knowing he’s dreaming opens up a world of possibilities and just exactly how many layers down he still is. one more point, when he's telling fisher that he's in a dream, he hears a glass break and sees his son for a second and freezes, everyone in the restaurant looks at him…because in reality everyone is in HIS dream."
"Bear in mind that the totems only exist in order to prove that the person isn’t in someone ELSE’s dream, because that someone else doesn't know how to manifest the totem. If Cobb is in his own self-constructed dream, the top would fall over anyway, because he knows that it should if he's not dreaming."
"“The Entire Movie Is a Dream” Argument: The kids haven’t aged! And they’re in the same clothes! This is clearly all a dream.
Nolan’s Comment: “The kids are not wearing the same clothes at the end! And they do age! We were working with two sets of kids.”"
