just listening to the new thurston moore now on my DELUXE SIGNED VINYL COPY and fuck it sounds brilliant. best thing he's put out under his own name for me and rivals some of sonic youth's finest moments. can see this being a real favourite for me this year.

I've seen some good reviews about the new Black Lips but truth is the advances are quite mediocre. Different lineup, think lead guitarist and drummer/singer were part of the sound I used to love so much... It seems it has leaked now, so tomorrow I'll give it a listen.

Thirded about the Thurston Moore record.
But fuck, i'm really digging the Gorillaz album.
I disagree about his post 2000 work. I reckon he's really flourished since. The Good The Bad and the Queen record is the best he's ever made and the last two Gorillaz albums (i'm including this one) are not far behind. He's more relevant than he's ever been. It's what sets him and the Gallagher's apart. The Gallagher's are both half trick ponies and Albarn has made great records in at least four different guises since 2000 and decent ones in another couple (Blur, TGTBATQ, Gorillaz, Solo, Africa Express, 2 operas, Rocket Juice & The Moon).
He deserves MUCH more credit than he's given.
It bears repeating- the Gorillaz record is fucking great given a few listens.

I didn't realise I'd stumbled across a 2007 issue of Q magazine. Albarn is an innovator for people still frightened by dance or hip-hop. He's about as relevant in 2017 as The Cribs. And at least The Cribs have the decency to do what they do without considering themselves geniuses.

i'm actually quite enjoying the new kasabian album on first listen. i thought the last one was entirely forgettable too. Ugh, I feel so dirty, but me too. Lyrically, there are some cringe-inducing moments but overall it feels loose and like they had fun making it.

yeah exactly that. i think they can be quite try hard at times but this just sounds like they relaxed and had a bit of fun and the results are their best album in quite a while.

Don't feel that much difference between the previous one (probably their most uneven) and this one. I really think the highest spots from 48:13 where as good as anything they've released.

Demarco's is a pretty one, subdued but nice. Perfume Genius has a nice start but the second half is boring imo, guess people could like it all.

Quite like the new LCD songs too, guess the fat fucker can spend another 10 years whining and touring under the umbrella of the critics.

Kasabian on Jools Holland the other week was as cringey as it gets.

Kasabian's debut was decent but they really did fall off a cliff after that. Truly appalling now. Am I right in thinking the first album was co-written by a band member who promptly quit? Would explain a lot.
Fake edit: Their cover of Runaway, the Del Shannon classic, is excellent, btw. Look it up on YouTube.

Well, I'd never call them experimental but reading that you would say they sound far different than what they actually do tbh. I couldn't even reach to the end of the article, as I guess it was too filled with words for my lad rock mind but it's far simpler than that: you either think FIRE is a tune or you don't. I mean, surely the guy could write a book about why LCD's songs are so cool and clever but, you know, it's all about tastes. And a matter of intellectual superiority, of course.
