I'll admit to liking kasabian right up to and including whatever album days are forgotten was on, but...I can't remember the last time I consciously thought "I feel like listening to kasabian". Their last album (the pink cover one) was so incredibly awful that it might have counterbalanced whatever goodwill they had from me after 'where did all the love go' and club foot.

The new Doug Tuttle record is fantastic. Slightly lighter and less psychy than his previous two, but chock full of laid back summery tunes.

You've twisted my arm baz. I wasn't going to bother, I do like them but I've never been as keen as I am other shoegaze acts & whatever song I heard a clip from didn't leave much of an impression. Though I keep hearing good things & it's ranked #5 for the year currently on RYM so it seems most people are really enjoying it.

i thought it was pretty good but nothing special. i'd really liked the single so maybe had set my expectations a bit high, whereas i was the opposite with the new JAMC - didn't think much of the singles initially but ended up loving the album. need to spend more time with the new slowdive though so hopefully it will grow.

Thirded about the Thurston Moore record. But fuck, i'm really digging the Gorillaz album. I disagree about his post 2000 work. I reckon he's really flourished since. The Good The Bad and the Queen record is the best he's ever made and the last two Gorillaz albums (i'm including this one) are not far behind. He's more relevant than he's ever been. It's what sets him and the Gallagher's apart. The Gallagher's are both half trick ponies and Albarn has made great records in at least four different guises since 2000 and decent ones in another couple (Blur, TGTBATQ, Gorillaz, Solo, Africa Express, 2 operas, Rocket Juice & The Moon). He deserves MUCH more credit than he's given. It bears repeating- the Gorillaz record is fucking great given a few listens. Gorillaz has grew a lot on me these last few days.

It'll grow on you Barneylad, the songs always grow. If the album's in similar vein i'll be happy. Every album has been a slight tweak on the last.

I'm a big fan.
Production is sublime and it sounds really nicely textured if that makes sense? There a lot of little subtleties that I didn't pick up on the first couple of listens.

The National are quite possibly the most boring band in existence. They're neither good nor bad. They just sort of...exist. I've seen them live twice and I'm sure I've heard all of their albums and I could not name one of their songs if you held a gun to my head.

On first listen it was not what I really expected, like really subuded and quiet, glad people are finding it amazing from the very start though. I guess right now we can say they will never get back to the sounds of THAT ep and debut LP, not that it's a big difference but I really feel it (more singer songwritter and textured, less chorus and lead guitars). Anyway, what I mean is I'll give it a lot more of spins and surely it will grow.

Btw the comments Robin added on that site to explain the lyrics of Third of May were so enriching, hope he does it again with more songs from the record.
