Just finished my first listen of an self-titled album by The Surfing Magazines and I'm diving right back in for a 2nd listen right away. Don't know much about them but there is something about them that really grabbed me. It was one of the most enjoyable first listens from any albums this year.

really like listening to individual tracks on new horrors, but it drags a bit as an album. still a big fan of their evolution.

Yeah agreed, Baz.
I am however loving the latest Blue Chips from Action Bronson.

Digging the new Horrors record. Will have something more concrete to say in the coming week, as I want to spend some time with it.

I'm really disappointed with the Kamasi Washington EP. Especially next to The Epic.
It's just a bit boring. Jazz by numbers.

Wolf Alice's record is magnificent, I'd like to be (at least) 10 years younger.

Only listened to it fully once so far but was very impressed. Aye, same here. Seems a bit darker and more sinister than the debut.

I'm really loving the new Protomartyr record 'Relatives in Descent'. Their previous album 'The Agent Intellect' from 2015 is one of my favourite albums of recent years, listened to it to death, so although I was eager for it, I was also apprehensive about how they would follow it up, but they've delivered.
I love the lyrics, I think frontman Joe Casey is one of the most interesting lyricists around at the moment, every song is so dense and layered i get completly lost in the words and imagery. All their vinyl releases come with 'zines' included with all the lyrics hand written and they're just fantastic..

I'm really loving the new Protomartyr record 'Relatives in Descent'. Listened this morning, it's excellent. The first two records I really dug their sound, yet they never really jumped out or clicked with me how I felt they probably should. Might give them a revisit.

Also been enjoying the new album from the band Omni called 'Multi Task', I don't really know loads about them, I think they're somehow related to Deerhunter, but they don't really sound anything like them. It's sort of tight garagey post punk, the production is quite close, they veer into Parquet Courts territory at times, the album is just shy of 30 minutes, worth a listen.

The first two records I really dug their sound, yet they never really jumped out or clicked with me how I felt they probably should. Might give them a revisit. Excellent, I think they have a great progression through their albums, you can feel them becoming more and more confident in what they do. From looking around, the record seems to have been pretty well received, some of the criticisms received seem to revolve on the fact that the band are doing too much this time, but I actually think that's what I like about it the most. The singer has always had this almost scattershot approach to his delivery and I like the way the band go with him a bit more on this record, his phrasings are really well complemented by the music. This is an interesting piece where the singer, Joe Casey, talks through some of the themes and lyrics on the album: www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2017/09/29/553963443/what-s-the-meaning-of-life-ask-protomartyr?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20170929

Cheers. Also I love how the record is sequenced, each track seamlessly fits together perfectly.
