I'm loving the new Flaming Lips record after third listen through.

Having my first listen now and it seems pretty good. I don't think it'll work too well as background music and definitely seems like one of those albums that needs your attention.
I'm sure it'll get better and better with each listen.

Heard it 5 times now, it gets worse each time. Uninspired rubbish. Even their half baked record store day releases are more interesting than this.

I'm fucking loving the new Ty Segall record, though hardcore Ty fans don't seem to be that bothered..

Yeah noticed you and Mahoney liked his last album too. I'm no hardcore Ty Segall fan but I thought it was a real disappointment

I'm really, really liking that new Cloud Nothings.
I just realized in 2012 - Attack On Memory was my # 1 album and 2014 Here and Nowhere else was my # 1 ... can the trend continue. Only 11 months to find out.

The Muggers record was a bit deceiving for me because you had three big melody makers in Ty, Mikal and King Tuff plus the guys on Wand, but the record was a different thing.
This one has a Lennon vibe on some songs, didn't fully grab me on first listen but we'll see.

Japandroid is a transcode? Might have been ripped from the NPR website.
Let me know 66 mbs?

nah got mine from getleaks, its 256kbps and 88mb in total
so this week pretty much my top 3 most anticipated albums of the year leaked. ive been able to give each one a few spins now so this is the verdict so far...
cloud nothings - growing on me. i still stand by this not being as good as the last two but i've upped this from 3.5 to 4 on rym.
sleaford mods - on first listened i was under the impression the first half was slightly disappointing and then from snout onwards this really improved. on repeated listens though this is pretty strong throughout. maybe doesnt quite have the memorable lyrics of some of their very best work but i normally find sleaford mods stuff takes a while to grow on me. solid 4 stars for now, may increase with more listens.
japandroids - everything i'd hoped it would be. i loved celebration rock so much and this is a worthy follow up. album of the year contender for me for sure.

I gave a couple of songs from that new Japandroids a go, I really don't see what anyone sees in them. They are the sort of disposable indie-rock rubbish that I'd probably been into around 2005.
Looking forward to the new sleaford mods though.

Really enjoying the new Ty Segall after a couple of listens. To me it's more of what he does best. Big dirty riffs, stomping beats, skewed melodies, just the right amount of playfulness and at times it veers off at a tangent.

Big dirty riffs, stomping beats, skewed melodies, just the right amount of playfulness and at times it veers off at a tangent. I absolutely love it. I can't believe It took me so long to get into him, I've become a bit obsessed of late, working my way through all his other stuff. But I do really love this new record, as you say, a great mix of everything he does. Read in a couple of places elsewhere that, typically, he already has the next album ready to go and is due out later in the year.
