i've been really getting into stone foundation the past few days. they're a soul band from the midlands made up of a load of middle aged blokes who have been doing the rounds for years apparently and have a sound thats a bit dexys and a bit style council. they seem to be getting a bit of press at the minute as paul weller has produced the new album and wrote/sings on 2 songs. i really love this single with weller on, it's better than anything on saturn's pattern for me. i've been checking out the bands older stuff and it's really good. pumped for the album released in march...

I can't keep up with all these new leaks anymore, seems everyday there's 2 new records I want to hear.
Loving Ty, I like the variety on the new record. Though there's plenty of his back catalogue I'm still yet to hear I think his most recent sound of the past two LPs is what works best for me.

I like that song, Weller's vocals sound fantastic. Also I love any opportunity to mention Weller as I know the mention of his name makes Chrissie break out in spots.

I think my favourite 5 Ty Segall albums runs like this (not including the new one.....it's too new)
1. Manipulator 2. Melted 3. Twins 4. Ty Segall (2008) 5. Goodbye Bread
Also love 'Slaughterhouse' which he released as Ty Segall Band and 'Reverse Shark Attack' which he released as Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin.
I love all 3 Mikal Cronin solo albums too and the two Fuzz albums.

The one with White Fince is one of his finest too in my eyes. Anyway, I think he's clearly a better-live-than-on-record case.

That Ryan Adams album is a little bit disappointing. It basically feels like another attempt at his self titled record, yet this time he's completely in second gear. Lyrically it was like he couldn't be arsed at all. So much for the great break-up album everyone was expecting. That being said, I still really enjoy the record which bothers me a little He's definitely getting closer to the middle of the road, but then I hear his voice & cave-in like the pathetic little fanboy I am. He could probably sing the FA cup draw & it'd sound great.

you see the vinyl boxset he's releasing of it? each tune on a seperate 7" with a new bside but then you get action figures of each of the band members and a stage type thing to set them up on reminds me of my wrestling figures and ring from back in the day.

Yeah. I'd buy the action figure set on its own, fuck having 12 7" singles of the album. Still, those 17 new B-sides will be sweet, especially if they are all new songs. I'd just like to reiterate that I do actually like the album bound to end up low on my top 40 despite being MIDDLE OF THE ROAD SHIT.

They should bring out indie-star figures like the old football ones, I'd collect them like mad

i feel the same about the album bruv, as i mentioned earlier in this thread. i've still given it 4 stars though basically for me, i love the self titled album so much that a poor imitation of it is still fucking brilliant in my book. as i said earlier when discussing the album, to me it almost seems to be exactly the same guitar riffs in certain songs its that unoriginal but fuck it, the tunes are still there.

Looking forward to new Father John Misty. If Pure Comedy is anything to go by, it's going to be something special.

Barny, have you heard a Spanish garage-rock band called Rata Negra? Nothing original but it's a pretty solid record that I've been enjoying a bit lately.

been on a big weller fix lately thanks to that stone foundation tune i posted above, so i'm quite excited to see he's just announced a new album out in march which is the soundtrack to the film jawbone.
first track from it just released and sounds quite different for weller, very stripped back and folky but i like it...

Bob Dylan is releasing a new album. (yay!) A triple album. (YAY!) Of old-timey covers. (Fuck you, old man.)
