So pumped for gruff. The new song is pure lee hazlewood!
Also another ridiculously long kamasi Washington record. Though amazon has the pre order at 60 quid so I’m not too pleased about that

yeah the new gruff tune is great, lee hazlewood was the first person i thought of when listening to it.
i've seen preorders for the new kamasi washington at 45quid at most independent record stores online. still a lot but better than 60 notes.
this year is finally taking shape for me. love the new ryley walker album, haley heynderickx i'd never even heard of before and has been a stunning debut, young fathers is the best thing theyve ever done and new albums from some of my favourites like kamasi washington, gruff rhys, aidan moffat, josh t pearson, tim burgess, stephen malkmus and the jicks and janelle monae in the next month or two.
really excited for the debut album from snail mail too.

I really liked Journal for Plague Lovers but the 3 records that followed minus the occasional track did nothing for me. Pretty sure I heard a new song on XFM the other day, it was OK but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the Manics anymore. Downloading the new Josh T. Pearson now. This had been my most anticipated record for the past 5 years... until I heard the 2 singles from it I'll give it a fair go but I'm pretty sure he's joined the Illuminati.

I enjoyed Futurology a lot, but not so much Rewind The Film. Didn't bother with Postcards From A Young Man, and like you, I enjoyed Journal For Plagued Lovers. But yeah, enjoying the new a lot.

Not listened to a huge amount of new stuff but so far the albums i've liked this year...
Orielles - Great mixture of youthful energetic jangly pop with a bit of 90's britpop influence
Hookworms - They've abandoned their punky Spacemen 3 sound and done a more electronic album with great pop melodies and a bit of a Krauty sound
Shame - Scuzzy, rocky lovelyness
Migos - Swaggy Trap
Goat Girl - The female equivalent of the Shame album. Great vibes and really great live.

Very much looking forward to the new Gaz Coombes record, didn't really like his fist two solo records, but all three singles released from this new one so far have been really lovely. I like the sound and production a lot.

Anyone heard Marlon Williams? I think he's from NZ. Sort of Chamber folk singer/songwriter thing. I love his voice, it's hard to pin down, falls somewhere between Anohni & Richard Hawley. A few tracks sound like something Steve Mason would put out. It's very poncey, JP Maddix circa 2002 would've loved him

The Coral have finally stepped out of their comfort zone... to enter into SFA Kaiser Chiefs territory (?)

They've had a remarkable run since Send Away The Tigers. This their 13th album, among their ten really good ones - the weak efforts being the first two and Know Your Enemy. Yes, even Lifeblood is worth your time. The new one, Resistance is Futile didn't grab me at first, unlike their 5 previous efforts, but after a second and third listen (and then consecutive listens over the past few days) it's really, really quite great. The Liverpool one is pretty terrible, as is the Facebook one, but all the others are very well done.
