All of Ty's records are on Spotify now, Drag City finally succumbed (Though still no Joanna Newsom).

Not a fan of the Arctic Monkeys new album. I've only listened to it twice but I just cant see myself getting into it. For all this talk about doing something different I just think its a case of the songs not being very good. Its poor and it all feels a little forced. I don't understand why it wasn't just released as a Turner solo album.

People are saying the new beach house is the best thing ever but for now it sounds like all their other work tbh The new album is pretty much my first time listening to them apart from a few singles here and there, and I gotta say, I'm loving it. The production is marvelous.

It's been a pretty good 2018 so far! My playlist of stuff I'm currently listening to is insane right now. I think its basically this time of year where the type of artists that do festivals get their records out so they can hit the festival circuit hard, but still I've got about 20 albums on the go right now that I'm trying to digest properly. It's made me fall behind on the soapbox album club FFS

The new Tim Burgess LP is surprisingly good for something which is essentially a half-finished side project.

I rarely bother to recommend a record before I've even heard it but I just had a skim through this on youtube and it sounds fucking great. The singer is in an aussie band called the Drones who made a record I loved a couple of years ago, he has this pissed off vulgar delivery like nick cave in grinderman or xtrmntr era primal scream
parquet courts new one sounded fucking great this morning too. really liked the courtney barnett record, to me it just sounded like the lemonheads, she should ghost write for dando.
gaz coombes record is wonderful. Arp Frique is a fantatsic modern sounding afrobeat record from the netherlands.
and if anyone is a big fan of savages there's a band called FRIGS that do a scarily similar thing, though I'm enjoying this more than either Savages LP.
not even got around to the connections record yet, so much great stuff recently.

So pumped for gruff. The new song is pure lee hazlewood! Also another ridiculously long kamasi Washington record. Though amazon has the pre order at 60 quid so I’m not too pleased about that Another Gruff tune:

Anyone heard Marlon Williams? I think he's from NZ. Sort of Chamber folk singer/songwriter thing. I love his voice, it's hard to pin down, falls somewhere between Anohni & Richard Hawley. A few tracks sound like something Steve Mason would put out. It's very poncey, JP Maddix circa 2002 would've loved him Really liking this, cheers for the recommendz m8.

The new Tim Burgess LP is surprisingly good for something which is essentially a half-finished side project. I'm with you Rodders. Wasn't even going to bother as I assumed it'd be something knocked up quickly (which perhaps it is?) but it's really solid throughout. Also the most Charlatans sounding his side-project work has ever sounded.

Connections on first listen was a little disappointing. They have a wimpier sound this time around, I miss the crunchy guitar sound. Still liked it & I'm sure I'll enjoy it more with repeated listens but I'd be surprised if I end up liking it as much as Private Airplane or Into Sixes.

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids - An Angel Fell is also well worth a look. This sounded glorious out in the sun this morning. Fucking mental how many good records have been released in this past month or so.
