WTF JP you've not rated Longview's album on RYM. Also I swear they did more than one album.

BRMC just sound like they are going through the motions these days. It doesn't help that I'm burnt out on that kind of sound but these past couple of records have just sounded so uninspired.
The Go! Team's newie Is growing with each listen. I still think they should have made Ninja the front-person/vocalist & star of that band. Though I'll never tire of that drum sound. I think this might be their best since Proof Of Youth.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I am too. Good, not great, nothing memorable. Says something that for me the best song they've done since...berlin, maybe, is a cover song. Seeing them live next week, so hopefully the new ones sound better in a live setting. And they play rifles or in like the rose, the fuckers.

They have just been announced to MadCool, which has a mindblowingly expensive lineup.

Nice, looking forward to the album and their gig in march I think. Was horrifically ill when Goat girl last played Manchester (at a really small venue too) so had to miss it. Will be nice to see how they've progressed since I last saw them in 2016.

Did anyone try MGMT yet?
Just giving it a listen now. Seems a lot more straightforward and accessible than their last 2 efforts. 4 tracks in as a I type this and it's got a very 80s thing going on, especially on Track 4 (Me & Michael)
So far, it's making for quite pleasant Friday morning listening.

Enjoying Shame's debut a lot
Just a shame (no pun intended) that their Manchester gig at Gorilla is sold out :-(

Shameh. Prefer Idles but not that much either.
MGMT I do enjoy but will require some more listens, it's poppier but still quite weird.

Thought the Shame record was pretty shit. Idles are one of the worst things I've heard though.
Both bands angst feels so forced. I'll stick with the Sleaford Mods.

I thought I was gonna enjoy Shames record with a few listens but it hasn't grown on me at all. Unmemorable I reckon.
I've been hearing great things about the new Ezra Furman album. Will have a listen tonight.

I just downloaded that Titch. Whatever I had heard of his before didn't interest me but the couple of songs up on youtube sound interesting.
The new Ought LP on first listen was a disappointment. Sounded like they'd gone for a much more commercial sound & failed to deliver the goods.
Loving the new TY Segall, the length isn't bothering me in the slightest as there's a real variety packed into the record. Sax freakouts forever!
new EP by The Yearning I'm surprised I like so much. Never heard them before, chamber pop with lush production & twee female vocals. Reminds me of something Astrud Gilberto would've made in the 60s with some nods to the 80s.

Didn't enjoy the new one by Ezra on first listen, seemed less focused and raucous than his/her two previous ones. It's less classical sounding too, so it might grow.

Ok, so MGMT has already grown quite a bit. Although initially might seem very mid 80s synth pop, I'd say there's a lot of Can/Kraftwerk/Bowie's Berlin trilogy, specially on the production and the synth flourishes. Vocals are very varied, like Ariel Pink does and that keeps the interest on a high level.
Barny, defending MGMT since 2007(I labeled them as techno then) 2008.

What are we all saying about Hookworms new one?
didn't like it at first as it's a bit of a departure from their spacemen 3 vibe but i'm loving it now.

Had a couple of listens of the Ezra Furman record and really like it a lot.
Is there someone on here who is a big Franz Ferdinand fan? How's their new one?
