It's alright, a solid record but nothing incredible other than the title track.

I think it is easily their worst but not bad if you dig them tbh.
A couple listens later Ezra seems better, has a tune or two but on the whole still prefer the older ones.

Love Kendrick's Black Panther. Couple of ropey tracks, but most is fucking brilliant.

Not feeling the Black Panther soundtrack at all. I'm the opposite of you on this. Couple of decent tracks (title track, Vince Staples track, Weeknd track) but rest boring throwaway garbage. Modern mainstream hip hop and rnb is just lifeless, lacking ideas and dull (with exceptions). Why does every female vocalist have to sing in that whiny, pained, nasal way that makes it feel like their trying to add loads of earnestness to every song?
Also, when did this turn into a Kendrick ego trip vanity project?. I thought he was supposed to be curating it. Was part of the contract negotiations him saying that he had to appear on EVERY single track? There are really good Kendrick contributions but also completely pointless little bits from him. It left me disliking him for the first time ever.

Love Kendrick's Black Panther. Couple of ropey tracks, but most is fucking brilliant. I see you are still playing it safe and trendy.

Pleasantly surprised by MGMT; much enjoyable tuneage 80s style; Franz is pretty underWhelming unforch.

The new Alela Diane album will surely be a contender come the end of the year. Really very bloody lovely indeed.

I may be in a sizeable minority when I say this, but lovely is never a quality I look for in a record.

My neighbour's dog is lovely.

Yeah, but is your neighbours dog really very bloody lovely?
Anyway- Don't let my limp description put you off, it's an instant classic for me. Lyrically, musically and melodically. It's essentially about birth and her experience of nearly dying when born and the birth of her daughter. It's omptimisitic and reflective and just marvellous. Ryan Francesconi is involved- he worked with Joanna Newsom on a couple of her albums.

3 albums released in the last fortnight that I'd be amazed if they weren't top 10 on lots of end of year lists.
Alela Diane. Which I've covered. The new/old Car Seat Headrest record is bloody brilliant- his best yet for me. And the new U.S. Girls record (who,I'd never heard of before, but is apparently their/her sixth or seventh record) is the best pop record I've heard in a few years. Blows Lana Del Ray and Lorde out the water.
