don't look back in anger - yeah it's a classic but not one i ever choose to play nowadays.
d'yer wanna be a spaceman - i much prefer these light hearted throwaway sounding noel sung bsides like this and bonehead's bank holiday than the plodding ballads he churned out in later years. nice track.
d'you know what i mean - everything about this is cool as fuck. amazing video, always loved the intro and the perfect release to follow up the pop hits of wtsmg. big tune.

The attempted re-master recently was an insult and I genuinely thought my stream has skipped when the intro shortened and the second verse cut. Disgusting. Anyone involved in this 'project' was/is a cunt. Thank the lord No-L was still under the influence around this stage otherwise it'd be extra violins instead of helicopters (see: 2002-present). As much as I love it though I never thought it worked well live. Same with Go Let It Out which is ironic given these are two of the best fist-pumping comeback tunes you could ask for. What I like about this tune is the message still stands, almost twice as loud. Pretty sure Whitey trips getting out the helicopter in the video too

Eyeball tickler
Middling Gem-penned DBBT b-side, it's fast and loud, but pretty garbage.
I never could make out the lyrics - Genius.com offers these; they're worse than I expected: "I got my drip drab velcro moustache. Keeps them all at bay. Get yours some day. Oh yeah !".
Thankfully it clocks in under 3 minutes. 3/10

D'You Know What I Mean? shocks me in that I almost agree with every word of a Lino post. I love the menacing intro, the lyrics, the wall of sound, the lot of it. Unlike bootcut jean specialist Sully, I thought it was a song which got better with later live performances (including LG's version last year. Says a lot that he picked it for the set). 10/10.
Eyeball Tickler is one of their last good b-sides. Could have been a Beady Eye song, and I mean that as a compliment. I also remember popular forum member Repeat (RIP) changing the opening line to MONGBY TO THE DUNGEON in dedication to the white jeaned one.

Fade Away
Early B-side, left off DM because it already had a song with "Away" in the title, but maybe it's hopelessness would be at odds with the album's otherwise sunny aspect.
Along with Headshrinker it's the early punk highlight, and I loved it when I was in my teens and early 20s.
Now that I'm approaching 40, it kind of makes me sad.
I appreciate the Warchild version too. 7/10

fade away 7/10......ffs can any moderators delete this thread plz I'm trying to be reasonable here; it's not just a matter of "if I like it it gets a 10, and if it's not perfect it gets a zero". It's just better than I got the fever, and as good as It's good to be free and Be here now. Seems fair. 7/10 is a damn good score, man. Here's my top ten so far (expanded to 14 to allow ties): Acquiesce Champagne Supernova Don't Look Back in Anger D'You Know What I Mean? All Around the World Don't Go Away Ain't Got Nothin' (It's Good) To Be Free Be Here Now Bonehead's Bank Holiday Boy with the Blues Carry Us All Cast No Shadow Cigarettes & Alcohol And here's the thread top 14 without my score: D'You Know What I Mean? Acquiesce Champagne Supernova Cigarettes & Alcohol Be Here Now Bring It on Down Columbia (It's Good) To Be Free Cum On Feel the Noize Bonehead's Bank Holiday Don't Look Back in Anger All Around the World Cloudburst D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman?

Fade In-Out
BHN was the second Oasis album I bought (I was likely later to Oasis than all of you), and for some reason there are a bunch of its tracks that were paired up in my mind from the get go - I hope, I think, I know and My Big Mouth, Be Here Now and It's Getting Better man, and Fade-in/out and The Girl in the dirty shirt.
With those last two, they were the ones that didn't grab me, and early on I'd skip them. Once I'd become more familiar with the album and the rest of the band's work, I came back to these two and they were like new songs. I really like fade-in/out; it sounds starkly different to anything else they'd done to this point, and although they're nonsense lyrics, they sound great - "the Devil's refugee is gonna be blinded by the light that follows me" - where's that kind of stuff now Noel? Where did it go after this album? The album track includes much from the Mustique demo, but Liam's rebel yell is a welcome addition.
Not bored of this - 8/10

D'You Know What I Mean?
I think this is Oasis' last great stand alone single, they never got near this again. This was also at the height of my madferritness, the anticipation of this single was palpable. The wait for it seemed like an eternity when I was a kid. It does sound very menacing and brooding and Liam sounds great. I did actually like the remaster Noel did last year, a good companion piece, rather than a replacement.
On a personal note, even though I loved this when it came out, the fact Beetlebum had been released a few months before and that whole Blur record had really turned my head because it sounded so different and odd but also fucking great, it was the beginning of the end of my full on Oasis love. Purely as a hindsight thing though, at the time I was still medferrit. But I think looking back, my partisan association with Oasis is what got me through some internal doubts with Be Here Now and the albums that followed.
9/10
Fade Away
I don't know how much of the 'didn't make it on Definitely Maybe' story I believe. Production wise, it would never have fitted, it sounds a lot more lo-fi and isn't heaped in reverb and echo which slathers all over DM. It's a fucking great song though, a rollicking riot and Liam sounds naturally great. I'm glad it isn't on DM as well, it exists perfectly where it is. The Warchild version is pretty bobbins save for Liam's backing vocals.
8.5/10

Fade Away & Fade In Out
Two blinding tunes - so different yet equally as menacing. I think the latter's the best tune off BHN because you can't pin the sound to any specific era from the glory years - it could fit any album including Giants. Fade Away proves just how prolific Noel was a songwriter to just discard the first classic he wrote. Band.

eyeball tickler - good tune this. i agree with the comment that it could be a beady eye tune and that comparison is meant in a positive way.
fade away - i always forget how good the original of this is as for some reason noel's horrible version often sticks in my head. love the lo-fi production on this.
fade in out - always enjoyed the menacing vibe this has. not one of my favourite songs from be here now but the scream onwards makes it pretty essential still.

Great point - it really stands out sonically. Falling Down
Final Oasis single ever, Noel on vox and much more of a clubby dance number than anything previous, this points the way to the particularly weak NGHFB's track What a life. Falling Down is superior, with more meaningful lyrics - nothing too cloying like the "take my tiger outside for a ride". The Twiggy remix is better than the album version in my view, and even the Amorphous Androgynous mix is something I'll turn to every now and then. It's solid, but a shame that the band's final single wasn't something more special. 7/10

FlashbaxExtra long Be Here Now era b-side, Noel on vocals, it sounds big but the lyrical laziness has returned with just the one verse and chorus repeated twice. "Sitting on a throne'll give a bad back to you" is a decent sentiment but I'm not sure how it ties into the rest of the song. Interesting guitar sounds fill the space between vocal lines, and it's better than BHN's weakest track, but it's really nothing special. 6/10 Don't Go Away
Beautiful ballad from Be Here Now, released as a single in Japan, though the (at times quite ridiculous) video was shown elsewhere - it's been suggested that the band's trajectory would have been different (in a positive way) had it been a proper single in the UK and USA. Noel does repeat the "say what you say" from Roll With It, but the arrangement is fine, the vocals are great, and it's a simple universal sentiment - it clearly could have been as big a hit as any of the lesser WTSMG singles, and up there with the other BHN singles. A nice re-stabilisation after the excess of All Around The World. And that middle eight "Me and you - what's going on?" - tidy. Pretty outro. I like the guitar flourishes on the Mustique demo too. 9/10. Back on this, I'd not heard the Oops mix of Don't Go Away, where the strings are brought to the fore - there's a lot there. soundcloud.com/m-car/dga-oops/s-0yh3R

Don't Look Back in Anger - I can still enjoy this but it's been so overplayed it feels impersonal. Like the national anthem or something. If you get me.
D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? - Loved this when i was younger...lyrics jar more now. It IS too late...
D'You Know What I Mean? - Well do you? Anyway this is still very good. Reviews on here have been slightly stronger than i thought they'd be though. It's like 7.9/10
Eyeball Tickler - Genuinely couldnt remember this. Listened to it again. Probably the last time I'll ever listen to it. It wasn't the worst thing ever. 5/10?
Fade Away - Fantastic.
Fade In-Out - Sorry, can't stand this tune. One of the few Liam sung songs I can't abide.

Eyeball Tickler - a decent enough rocker and dicier than a lot of the album tracks. Sad you can't tell what Liam's singing though. The scream is good as Fade In-Out's, however.
Falling Down - I do really like this, one of the best tunes Noel wrote in later years. I'd much rather a solo album of these than his mid-tempo rockers as his voice is more suited.
Flashbax - it starts off fine with some decent lines but descends into dullness and is overlong. It's got a lot in common with Magic Pie in this sense.
