JUST LISTENED TO MY FIRST 2019 ALBUM
the deerhunter album. was ok but a bit too polished and normal sounding for my liking. nothing terrible but will probably never listen again.

The new song sounds... like Ryan Adams. I want to be excited, but if it's going to be another 3 records of near 20 songs a piece of Ryan covering the same old tired ground then I'm going to really struggle to be interested unless he's really stuck gold with the songwriting - which judging by the couple of minutes I heard of the new song doesn't appear to be the case. Though hopefully the second album with the Nebraska ripoff artwork will sound like Nebraska  |

yeah that new ryan adams tune sounds pretty dull on first listen.
one of my favourite labels from last year gurugurubrain who put out a lot of the japanese psych stuff i got into had their first release of the year this week, an lp by a thai surf rock band called khana bierbood. on first listen it was pretty enjoyable but didn't reach the highs of their labelmates kikagaku moyo and sundays and cybele.
this tune is a banger though...

If Little Simz three tracks from last year are anything to go by, her album is gonna be brilliant.
I alwyas thought she had bags of talent without the songs to really back it up. But these are huge step up.
