The Drums - Brutalism is out on April 5th and I’m hard as a rock.

Sharon Van Etten tomorrow. Really like her new sound. The singles have all been great.

Shaz, The Twilight Sad and Steve Mason are both out tomorrow aren't they? Decent release day.

Yeah first big release day of the year. Van Etten sounded good on first listen but didn't grab me as much as her last couple. Also got Steve Gunn's latest out tomorrow too that I'm looking forward to.

Deerhunter as well today.
Giving Steve Mason ago now. Probably his most accessible album to date.

Loving the Deerhunter and Steve Gunn records. Particularly Steve Gunn. Gorgeous record. And the Angelo de Augustine too.

I'm pretty burnt out on psychedelic-rock but anyone still craving that sort of Jonestown type sound I just had a flick through this on youtube and it sounds alright

I've been mostly obsessed with Guided By Voices this year and have really struggled listening to anything from 2019. I gave Steve Mason ago, and Steve Gunn. Other than that, I've not bothered with anything.

Tried Van Etten's new one a few times, it sounds far too safe sounding to me.
Steve Mason's I'm enjoying. My immediate thought was it was too commercial sounding, though the songs have won me over. Some shit lyrics on there but overall it's a good record, though probably my least fav of his so far.

I think the Stax-style brass section and the Stephen Street production really suit Mason. The album is ok, some great singles, but nothing as good as Lost and Found.

I think I mentioned it up there, but really really loving the Angelo de Augustine record. He's the one on Sufjan Stevens' Asthmatic Kitty label and you can tell.

GBV is growing on me with each listen. Also really liked the new Girlpool on first listen, very basic indie-rock done well. Also the new project from Tobacco & Aesop Rock called Malibu Ken is a lot of fun, has a sort of 80s electronica feel to the beats.

If the title.track is anything to go by the new James Blake will be great. Some top guests too. Moses Sumney, Travis Scott, Andre 3000, Rosalia.
Moses Sumney was my album of the year in 2017. He's just popped up on a Sufjan Stevens song too.

I haven't bothered to listen to his new stuff but James Blake is dull as fuck, no?

A mixed bag in the past for me leaning more to the positive. But yeah, some less ibteresting stuff too.
Never gonna be stuff you dance to, but surprisingly excellent live.
The new album is really good after a couple of listens last night.
