Really like the BJM record. I had to double check their discography and check it wasn't a reissue. Couldn't believe it was new and wasn't sure if they'd had a s/t befire.
The Karen O record was boring first listen. Might give it another go.
Really enjoying the Cinematic Orchestra record. No surprises, just big sweeping pieces and guest vocalists. Kinda washes over you but when you do concentrate on what's going on, realise how good it is.

UK hip hop is in rude health.
Psychodrama by Dave might be even better than the Little Simz record.

Listened to the new BJM album. It’s exactly as I had expected. The sound of Anton amusing himself in the studio. Some decent material but nothing outstanding. Bring back Matt Hollywood.
Psychodrama by Dave really is great, however. I was hooked from the first track. Best LP I’ve heard so far this year.

Really liking the new album 'Visitor' from Michelle Blades. I know hardly anything about her, but heard the single 'Politic!' a month or so ago which was great and the album just came out and i've spent all weekend with it. From what i can gather she's from Panama but is based in Paris. Getting some Cate Le Bon vibes, worth checking it out.

Looks like a different TV show. Be shit if it's replaced the slow pace and tone with a load of Grime rappers in action scenes.
Sure it will be alright though.

The Karen O record was boring first listen. Might give it another go. I kinda thought the same, but it has grown on me quite a bit. Nothing spectacular but a solid record. Barny, a member of the Exploding Hearts (that isn't dead??) has released a record that sounds like... the exploding hearts. At least from the bits I sampled on youtube rateyourmusic.com/release/album/terry-and-louie/_a-thousand-guitars/

The National are simply the best New album out in May If The National were literally the ONLY band left on the planet, they still wouldn't be the best.

The National aren’t even the best band formed in that part of the world in that particular year.

Turtleneck and the title-track aside, their (The National) last album was shockingly bad. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for them but even re-listening to Trouble Will Find Me, I just found it incredibly dull. They've turned into the type of band that cunts who have dinner parties love.
From this day forward, I will only refer to them as The Trashnal. Or The Gashnal.

I tend to take criticism of The National a little like I take news that my mother’s just been raped by a gang of Arsenal fans, and that last album was fucking boring, the one before marginally less so. The first album is also gash, but the other four are still excellent.

i'm really enjoying the debut album from w.h lung. saw them at latitude last year and they have british sea power/arcade fire type vibes with a bit of krautrock influence thrown in too.
