Handsome Furs - Sound Kapital 8.8/10 -> great vibe on this one.. so different then the last two albums recorded purely on synths and drum machine.. sounds very 80'ish kind of new order'ish in places as well.
Dan can do no wrong.. the guy is a machine. Now if only we can get another Wolf Parade record as well.

Look at that Artwork I think it's a shame most people just stick with compilations with James Brown. Most the studio records from the 60's & 70's I've heard have all been pretty damn good. Sure a few filler tracks appear from time to time but theres always enough quality spread throughout to make them worth bothering with. This one bounces from his trademark Funk Sound to the more classic soul sound from song to song. Good stuff. 8

Gave this a few listens today. I doubt I've listened to it since I won a copy (SIGNED) over ten years ago. At the time I thought it was a load of bollocks & was only interested because Noel was on drums. It's actually pretty damn decent with a couple of really good tunes. 'Coming back home' reminds me of Sparklehorse & then 'Crazy Horse' sounds like, well a Crazy Horse tune covered by BRMC. For anyone who bought or acquired this years ago & has not heard it for some time I'd recommend giving it another go. 6.75

Listened to Ride's BBC Sessions disc tonight, and I don't know why it hit me tonight, but I actually started laughing when I read the title of 'crown of creation'...bit on the nose, Andy. Aside from that, a good little comp. 6.5/10

Sonic Youth are a band I like to dip in & out of from time to time. Usually their releases are hit or miss but even the ones I'm not particularly keen on have moments or ideas that are intriguing enough to keep me interested. Unfortunately, this record has none of that. Appalling amateur sounding bullshit. If anybody other than Sonic Youth had put this out nobody would ever want to hear it more than once. 2/10 The Kill Yr Idols EP from around the same isn't much better either.

Just heard Shattered, the collection of singles, rarities and alternative mixes from The Exploding Hearts. Man, I love that band... As joyful as it can get, but with the necessary amount of energy to make it work. Some great (even more) lost gems here, also liked the slowed down version of Modern Kicks. All and all, 16 tunes in 45 minutes. Hard to ask for more tbh.

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs -> 7/10 Most of it it's alright but it's too long and there's nothing mindblowing for me. Still a good listen from time to time.
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon -> 7/10 Good Saturday morning album.
David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars -> 7.5/10 Staaaarmaaann.. You know the rest.
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow -> 9/10 I arrived quite late to the Shins bandwagon and in fact I'm not a big big fan, but when they got it right they were really great, didn't they? This album is a sucession of tune after tune after tune. Not a wasted line or second.

The Velvet Underground - VU -> 7.5/10 More like a Lou Reed album and some of the songs have appeared on other places, but I like it yeah I do.
The Stands - Horse Fabulous -> 8/10 Dunno if as great as the debut, but highly enjoyable.
Super Furry Animals - Dark Days/Light Years -> 7.5/10 The Furries can do no wrong, I think this is an underrated record tbh. Hope they release something soon.

Cheers for that link.
Can't see there being a new SFA record for quite some time. Saw an interview with Gruff & he gave little away but I've a feeling it could be a couple of years yet. He said the band were really disappointed at themselves for rushing out Dark Days/Light Years as they really liked the record but nobody ended up hearing it. They feel like their 10th studio album should be really ambitious & be heard by everyone.
I put Gruff's latest solo LP on a few days ago which I'd not heard for a couple of months. It sounded amazing in the sun. I don't mind if SFA take their time if he's going to keep releasing solo material on such a regular basis. Still not seen him live on this tour & I've no idea why.

We can hold hands on Field'S Day if you want. And yeah, if they gonna go with the ambitious thing I can wait a little more...
