I liked My Girls by Animal Collective when I heard it (still do, what a tune), so I decided to give that album a spin (an album that was like #1 on Pitchfork's (but then again they are cunts too) list of 2009) and it was the biggest pile of garbage I'd ever heard. All these 'sounds' and things--they went right over my head, too artsy and pretentious for my liking. Then I figured you'd have to be stoned or tripped out to understand it, either that or that I was just not cool enough.

Anything that needs huge amounts of drugs/booze to be appreciated is con music. Pretty much for the same reason they give you free drinks at the casino roulette, just a con so you put your guard down. Plus these new artists, they trick you into thinking that their music is more complex and deeper than it actually is. They can't even play guitars anymore, all they do is turning the knobs of their mixers. Fuck Deerhunter and all such people who seems to mention everything as influences. They like any music ever produced, from Leadbelly to Aphex Twin, Ike & Tina Turner and Pantera. It's ok to avoid focusing only on one style of music, but this is descending into contradictioness. It's like saying " I'm vegan but I enjoy some cannibalism on a Sunday". Fuck Animal Collective and their "experimental music", where "music" stands for machine sounds and "experimental" stands for inconsistent. And fuck all of their fanatics whose social insecurity prevents them from saying "Fuck Animal Collective and fuck my social conscience, you are nothing!!". Fuck one particular member of Animal Collective who is responsible for dragging down music into oblivion with this: just listen to that. Whats this new trend of sane and socially accepted people acting as they were spastic? Fuck people who listen to music for reasons that are not their personal enjoyment and fuck people who lie to themself and force themself to listen to atrocious stuff.

How can I be happy after reading this thread? Just because you goons don't get The Wall doesn't mean it's shit. I will agree wholeheartedly with Ben's mention of Outsider, bar a couple of good songs (Tiger, for example) it's bilge. I'd also like to add to my dislike of anything AC/DC, truly depressing music for people who are happy to be spoon fed the same boring rock-by-numbers over and over again. Never understood the Portishead love either although his remix of Manu Chao's King of Bongo is an utter tune and a half. Led Zeppelin have their fair share of bloated bullshit but III, IV and Physical Graffiti stand up against almost anyone else's output IMO. Why I even bothered to respond to a thread that contains people slagging off The Wall and DAFT PUNK is beyond me. I feel as though I should throw in at least one of my own. Since we have a slight Pink Floyd theme going then Probably the worst album by a band I love. It's unlistenable, awful, uninspired, grey sludge.

Tell me what is there not 'to get' about The Wall? It's music for 60 year olds who haven't heard anything before and haven't heard anything after as well

Well I got into The Wall when I was about 18 so that's not exactly true is it. I admit it might be a bit much for some people to digest, but in that case listen to The Final Cut and shut your fucking mouths.

I agree with some of you but I should remark that Jet's debut is not bad, ACDC are harmless and MGMT are a great band. And I love all Shenandoah's bashing except for Devendra. I like him, you can't blame him for that tbh.
I don't know about worst albums ever either as I tend to forget music that I don't like, but from my favourite bands that BRMC one should be there, no doubt.

Dummy is the least interesting of all Portishead's records.

Deerhunter. I fucking hate that worthless music. People who like them are the first victims of our society. Someone should tell 'em they don't have to lie to themself anymore. Also Devendra Banhart, he's responsible for taking a genre of music as noble as folk and degraded it to something for hipster who live in the woods but secretly wish they could date some Hollywood actress. I wish his awful wooden ornaments attracted a thunder and he catches fire. I have plenty of hate for nearly everything, so more to come soon. he dated natalie portman.

I have little time for most of the bands mentioned by shenandoah (wtf was your previous forum name? i can't keep typing that load of pish)
Living in the UK, I find it hard to properly 'hate' bands like Deerhunter or Animal Collective. They're just a bit boring, it's a lot easier to just ignore them if you live somewhere across the pond like Glasgow. There's so many interesting bands right on your own doorstep that I couldn't really care less about them.
