Aye, good drummers know when they're skills are needed and when they aren't tbf.

Bought the vinyl in an FYE, of all places, the other day. Sounds great over the big speakers.

Love the bass intro in Reckless Serenade. Reminds me of something, but I dunno what.

Yep, love myself the start of the song. It's exactly how it should be, the sound, the timing, everything...

Stop with all the drummer bollocks, being a good drummer not only consists on having a drum solo on each & every song, maybe he could fuck off to a trash metal band. . you're the one talking bollocks if you think any one is expecting drum solos. matt is limited to what he can do because this album is full of plodding, mid-tempo numbers that put you to sleep. listen to him on Crying Lightning or My Propeller. there's real grooves on both. there's fuck all on this LP. fuck all anything. the drums are the least of my worries tho, what concerns me more is Alex Turner clearly doesn't give a fuck about what he passes off as lyrics these days. If Noel had come out with some of his guff he would have been laughed at from all sides.

The title track has grown on me a fuckin' lot, I'm totally addicted to it right now. The truth is it was almost unnoticed for me on the first couple of listens.

yeah agreed, its just because the previous too are total fucking highlights (piledriver and laserquest), and "thats where you're wrong" is an immense closer. i know exactly what you mean.
i love this album so much. never liked the monkeys over the top, in faqct i didnt get into their first album until i heard their second one.
this album has totally made me a monkeyhead. top band.

So where do people stand on this record now?
There's a new b-side with Miles Kane on vocals, Little Illusion Machine (Wirral Riddler)
It's quite good

Liked it at first but it just sounds a bit infantile now. And not in a good way.
