For shenandoah. Toro Y Moi - Intro Chi ChiReally liked the latest album, this intro is a good way to start a record, a bit of MBV-guitars with some nice rhythms at the end. Syket - Let It HealHave recommended these on here before, shoegazey vibe with madchester drums and horns. Bill Laswell - Lost RoadsIt's impressive how a song like this can get stretched out to seven and a half minutes without you losing interest. Joe Gibbs - Africa Dub Chapter ThreeBeen listening to a lot of dub lately so i thought I'd throw some of that stuff in there. The Jaynetts - Sally Go Round The RosesGreat girlpop stuff, powerful melody. Suicide - Mr. RayBeen listening to a bit of Suicide lately, like the beat on this one, sounds like something Tyler The Creator would use today. Prince Far I - Low GravityCan imagine Primal Scream listening to this while doing Vanishing Point. Link Wray - The FuzzSuch a cool track as usual when it comes to Link Wray. The Skatalites - Lucky SevenEvery time I listen to this one I end up trying to imitate his grunts for the rest of the day. Sam & Dave - Hold On! I'm Comin'Great song, got the same swagger and power like Fire with Etta James. Albert King - Crosscut SawLove the lead guitar on this one, sexy as fuck. George Mcrae - Rock Your BabySmooth discosoul, remember Bobby Gillespie raving about this one. Dion - Born To Be With YouOne of those songs that everyone who's heard it loves it. Fantastic. Spectors production is great, the drums are massive. Both Dion and Spector thought they had reached their peak years before which I think gives the song it's desperate yet still resigned feel. The Delfonics - Didn't I Blow Your MindRecently rediscovered this song. The melody is perfect, such a beautiful song.

Quality mixtape, Barny. Really enjoyed most of it. Will have to d/l a record of Anna Calvi's, as i really liked both the track you selected, and the one Ben had in his. I can see the PJ Harvey comparisons Already had the Fleet Foxes and Replacements tunes, but was great to hear em again in this setting. Quality tune by The Vines, too. Is it a new 'un? I lost interest in them after the shitty second album, but was surprised at this tune. I've still got time for (most of) the debut Overall, i enjoyed it mucho. And there's a couple artists/bands i will deffo be seeking out more from. Nice one, cheers m8 Also listened to Ton's today. Some very good tracks in there too. One Grain Of Sand even recieved a whopping 5 STARS on my iPod. Wizz Jones can retire on that! Would be nice to read a few more comments and thoughts from everyone on all these mixtapes tbh, instead of just the ones made for you. Might make this great thread last longer too. So when's the second draw?

Feedback for Autobahns mix... The Quik- Bert's Apple Crumble Not fond of this, a bit cheesey but works well as a bit of a silly party mix opener. The Rollers- Knockin' On The Wrong Door Yes. Beautifull. Lovely soulful vox, this one rattles along a nice pace and just has a great summer vibe about it. Rare Earth-Big John Is My Name Really cool song, has a motown style intro then just goes into some awesome funkyness.Big John is the man. Nashville Teens- Tobacco Road The 60's vibe continues with this number, nice enough song but not really anything to write home about. Minks-Funeral Song A bit more modern this one... Really liked it, reminds me of the cure. Freddie King- Going Down Back to the 60's with a FUCKING KILLER OF A TUNE. A huge fairly quick paced dancey blues song. The Move- Brontosaurus This song aimed to be big with it's big bassline, to me it just sounded like a shit beatles though. Beach Fossils- Face It Another more modern one, kinda the same downbeat, we're a feeling a bit melancholic vibe as the 'Minks' song, loved it. Cody Chesnutt-Upstarts In A Blowout Never heard anything quite like this before, thoroughly brilliant, I don't know who the fuck Cody Chesnutt is but I hope he isn't a one hit wonder. The Troggs-You're Lyin Liked this one too. Constantines-Young Lions Ending on a more rockier note, again really liked this song - theres something quite different about this band even though it's a familiar sounding song - it shines through in this one. Great compilation, really enjoyed it and the fact that I hadn't hardly heard of any of the bands made it even more enjoyable.

So when's the second draw? The Vines song is from their latest record, probably the worst album I have ever heard. Still they manage to create some golden work here and there, so I keep on trying Pleased with your mixtape too, after three listens or so. The only song I knew from this lot was the Veronica Fall's one, also waiting for their debut. Have downloaded the new Art Brut and The Moons records but never listened to them yet. Overall it's a satisfying and mostly uplifting mixtape, good for the summer isn't it? The highlights being Don't Say Oh Well and The Highs & Lows. I've checked that GROUPLOVE EP but it doesn't really move me a lot. Great opener and closer too. I'd like to find time to check the other tapes but I don't think I will tbh

btw Dan, you should check also Nobunny - First Blood from last year, it even has Mahoney's thumbs up (both) and the Funx & his Chunx track reminds me to it.

Here's what's in mine:
!!Boring alert!! -- a mix for Jorn Thomastown - Not Drowning, Waving - 1990 A rather ambiant track by the band that soundtracked awesome australian film Proof. I've been following their leader David Bridie for a long time.
What If Nobody Would Catch Us? - David & The Citizens - 2006 A band I discovered in Sweden. Their sound was usually more acoustic than that, but this was the probably the catchiest track I could think of. If This Hat Is Missing I've Gone Hunting - Get Well Soon - 2007 This one man band has some incredible arrangements and when they go with a proper rocking tune like this one, the result is stellar.
Contre Courant - dahlia - 2005 A french band with lyrics in French. I like the mood of that song.
We're Forgotten Legends - Wendy Code - 2007 Underrated French band with english lyrics and subtle mix of rock and electronica.
Your Ex-lover Is Dead - Stars - 2004 Lovely tune, nice arrangement.
I'll Call You Mine - The Zombies - 2007 One of the best piano tune ever. Really upbeat.
Some Curious and Beautiful Maps - The Silent Type - 2005 Not upbeat but really beautiful, verging on epic. Was recommended to me on Facebook by a chick who's a fan of Mick Huckabee
I'm Doing Fine - Day One - 2000 That band seems to be a secret that Dan & I share. Check them out.
Dearheart - Dear Reader - 2009 Beautiful acoustic sound, cute vocals. Lovely but not just that.
Me Ves Y Sufres - Hope Of The States - 2004 It's the piano that does it for me on that track from a great album.
Same Deep Water As Me - I Am Kloot - 2003 Underrated to be honest.
On A Shelf - ex-magnolia - 2005 Underrated to be honest. JP says it's the best thing I've ever done.
Rue Saint-Vincent - Les Frères Jacques - 195? An example of "chanson réaliste" from the early 20 th century. I plan on covering it one day.
