Interesting, I've only heard the Runaround Sue record from '61. Will have to dig deeper.

Ok here's a review for Chuzeville's mixtape
1 Not Drowning, Waving - Thomastown
Sounds a bit like Duran Duran to me and that's not a good thing. Although, this song ain't bad. Just not my kind of pop music.
2 David & The Citizens - What If Nobody Would Catch Us?
Typical indie pop song. The kind of song you could hear for an entire summer on the radio but could easily be forgotten the year after. Decent song, but not something I would listen to again
3 Get Well Soon - If This Hat is Missing I've Gone Hunting
Sounds like Norwegian band Madrugada, even some Nick Cave and Tindersticks maybe. A good song but a shame about the girl singing "Shoot baby, shoot baby". An awful part of the song, but still, like I said, a good song.
4 dahlia - Contre Courant
I think the French language is perfect for some kinds of music. This is a decent song but also kind of your typical pop song. No remarkable melody or a kick ass chorus.
5 Wendy Code - We're Forgotten Legends
More of a rock song. Makes me think of Skunk Anansie or something. I don't like this, sorry.
6 Stars - Your Ex-Lover is Dead
One of the two songs I already knew. Starts with a man saying "When there's nothing left to burn, you got to set yourself on fire". Sounds spot on to me, just like this song. Very good pop song.
7. The Zombies - I'll Call You Mine
Even though I really like 60's pop music, The Zombies have never been a band I paid much attention to. This is a very good song though, how pop music is supposed to be. Simple, catchy and a fantastic melody.
8. The Silent Type - Some Curious and Beautiful Maps
Not bad but it kind of drags on without going somewhere. I have the feeling that if this song was slightly different I would've liked it though. Maybe a few spins will change my feeling about it as well
9 Day One - I'm Doing Fine
The laserbeams at the start remind me of Suicide, the music doesn't. At some moments during the song I though "hey this is good" but at other moments I thought "mmm this is pretty shit" as well. Still a pretty good song overall though.
10. Dear Reader - Dearheart
I don't like this and I think I have said enough with that. Not my kind of music at all
11. Hope of the States - Me Ves Y Sufres
Sounds like that Tom Chaplin guy from Keane got kicked in the crotch and got put in front of a piano. Once he kind of recovered from that he thought "hey let's pick up a guitar".
12 I Am Kloot - The Same Deep Water as Me
I Am Kloot were one of my favourite bands from like 2001 to 2004 so still have a soft spot for them. Even though I don't rate them that high anymore this is a nice song. Bit cheesy composition, but good.
13 ex-magnolia - On a Shelf
This is your former band, right? I don't know if it's you singing here but I really don't like the voice of the singer. Apart from that (ie instrumental, composition), it's a good song.
14 Les Frères Jacques – Rue Saint-Vincent
By listening this song I can totally imagine walking the streets of Paris in the 40's or 50's. Nice little song.

9 : I love it mostly for its string arrangement. 11 13 : yep, that's me singing. Sorry I couldn't make the whole thing more exciting, but I guess it's no surprise, eh Tob?!

I like the singing on your solo album better chuze.
It wasn't a bad listen and it was pretty exciting, because I only knew two songs but some of them weren't just my thing. None of the songs were really bad either.

Retired Boxer's mix for me. Mostly instrumental/electronic tunes, but not entirely so there was a bit of variety. The M3U file was coded to his computer, so it didnt work for me, so I had to listen to each track by hand in the order he presented originally. Small gripe, but there was a track missing so it was confusing at first. There were a couple tracks named by the name of the album in his original list, so it was a bit confusing there as well, but only for the first listen through.
1. Apparat - Not A Number (listed name of the album as the track) - Very minimalist, but I especially like the strings. The xylophone base was a bit eh, but the strings make the tune.
2. Darkstar - Aidys Girl Is A Computer - Reminds me of some Radiohead remixes in many ways. I found it a bit plodding, but not bad.
3. Kling Klang - Heavydale - Enjoyed this one. Very loud guitars and the drums were killer. Sounds like a great driving tune.
4. Mogwai - Mexican Grand Prix - Listed, but not included in the zip. Great tune, as it would've been the first I had heard of in the mix. The 2nd listen through I added it myself and it fit well in between 3 and 5.
5. Kling Klang - Heavydale Reprise - A fitting reprise of track #3. Nice and loud.
6. Antoni Maiovi - Class Dagger (listed name of the album as the track) - I didn't really care for this one. Came across as an 80s New Wave tune instrumentally.
7. Adele - Rollin In The Deep (Remix by Jamie XX) - Enjoyed this quite a bit. I had not even heard this in its original form, which is shocking considering how well known she is now. I liked the remix quite a bit.
8. Mount Kimbie - Blind Night Errand - I had heard this once before during some dubstep experimenting a few months ago, and it didnt take then. I gave it a few more listens with this mix, and I enjoyed it more. Ive got to be in a mood to properly enjoy it. I really like the break at about the 2:40 mark.
9. Minks - Funeral Song - Heh, this was a fun song. Vocals were a bit crap in certain parts, but picked up during the refrains.
10.oOoOO - No Summr4U - This was alright. I like the girl's voice, but I felt that the beat was very derivative.
11. Felix - Death to Everyone But Us (listed name of album as track) - I really liked the piano flourishes in this track. The girl's voice was interesting as well as her vocal pentameter for this particular tune. I came back to this one more than any others alone.
12. Hot Club de Paris - They Shoot Horses, Don't They? - Haha, thought this was going to have something to do with Shit Horse. I really disliked this one. Bit annoying.
13. Errors - Dance Music - Knew this one coming in. I like Errors somewhat. This track had a very Foals-ish type of feel instrumentally. Good driving tune.
14. Magenta Skycode - Montag - I really enjoyed this one too. I had heard of this band, but never really gave them a listen. The lead vocalist has great range and his falsetto wasn't offputting. Very full sound.
15. Gill Scott-Heron & Jamie XX - Running - Had heard this only once before. It was a nice ending to the mix. I listened to this just after his passing, so it was nice timing on Retired Boxer's part to include this.
Enjoyed the mix for the most part, a few things I really did not like, but a few that I definitely did. Apologies for the wait.

I can't find the Black Lips thread but I'm using this. With the record I've received a cd mixtape compiled by them, it's nice and has some nipples on the cover.
