Saw a bit of chatter in the leak thread, so thought it might be worth it's own thread loike Erm... not impressed. Only on my first listen, but only the opening couple tracks have stood out so far. I thought the last record was pretty patchy, with some belters scattered about ( Fast Fuse is one of their best, methinks), but this seems even more unmemorable on (admittedly) early contact. Seems almost a bit too laid-back and bored sounding for a Kasabian record. Didn't they big this up as a really nutty, rocking, psychedelic rock record in all the promo fluff? Anyone enjoying it? Maybe its a grower, eh

Anyone who produces record-sleeves like the one above, are worth at least paying some attention to, Billypans, no matter how much the quality of the work diminishes

It is bad, isn't it It just drones on and on. No fun at all, and Kasabian were always a fun singles band at least

I haven't listened yet to it and don't know if I want to but I'll give it a go I suppose at some point. I thought the last album was awful. Like Weezer's last 2 albums might have been better lol. Nah I like them and unfortunately I can't see them live at some festival setting. Last time I saw them at a club it was a dreadfull experience. Just flat out boring....

Well I'm not past he point of caring about Kasabian yet and I think they are a long way from shit. When they are big they are big. I feared the album would be them going on on loads of uneeded tangents for the sake of appearing avent garde (cringe) after the success of West Ryder. They don't do it that much but it still feels like they are experimenting for the sake of it when it's not one of their strong points. The songs though, attempted avent garde or not, just aren't that strong and as usual Serge sings far too much. The worst thing is their only stab at classic Kasabian sounds like cartoon Kasabian. If they can't write songs in the vein of Clubfoot, Empire, LSF etc then they are fucked. The lyrics at times are also very shit. ...goodbye kiss, I broke my wrist.... Overall 6/10 I am intrigued enough to give it a few more spins though

Glad you enjoy Fast Fuse, Dan. Think it could easily make a Tarantino film.

Didn't realise this had leaked, just downloaded it. First tune goes a bit 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me' in places.

Track three, that's gonna be the first dance at my wedding. Beautiful. Track 4 has just started off with a weird carnival vibe. Spaced out man.

'Acid Turkish Bath (Shelter From The Storm)' ... what a name. Kind of enjoying the tune as well. I skipped the title track after roughly 6 seconds wasn't feeling it at all.

just put this on now.
after not minding kasabian back in the day id not listened to them in about 6 years until recently when i rediscovered my balls thanks to all the young.
relistened to the debut a few weeks ago and it was much better than i remembered tbh. not listened to the 2 that followed yet and never have done but will be on it soonish. not holding out too much hope for this new one judging on the comments here but will post my thoughts when its done. first song sounds ok but a bit poppy.
btw heard the new rifles tune the other day, absolutely dogshit aint it. still looking forward to them live next month though, got a feeling i might cry during out on the past.

Rifles tune is so awful. Hope it completely flops, they've hurt my pride but releasing it. Dustins to the rescue.

halfway through this lp, not disliking it by any means at all. can see why it would upset some fans as its pretty poppy and the production is a bit crap but like you said in the other thread bruv, the songwriting is still at similar levels i think.

They're playing Troxy in March.
If I go see em it will be then so I can get home quick sharp but even then not sure I can be bothered.
