Anyway, whilst we are on this fanboi rampage.
What do people think of Thank You For The Good Times & Shout It Out Loud?
I remember both tunes getting a ton of shit but despite them being a bit average I'd still rather have them on HC than some of the shit on there.

I've always had a soft spot for Thank You... but the production is really shit. I guess I like the emotion of the lyrics or something, and the vocals. Although it's the kinda song that Themis likes so I can see why most people despise it.

yeah the production is completely jank. It's a shame cos it's a big feelgood tune like a stay young or I hope I think I know but falls completely flat.

Shout it Out Loud dicks all over the Noel sung songs which made the album, but that's not saying much. Just had to listen to Thank You... for the first time in years there as I couldn't remember if it had anything other than that chorus, how fucking slow is it? The production makes it sound like Andy tried to write a song which sounded like Noel's cover of Heroes.

I think the problem with Thank You for the Good Times is that it sounds like a song written by an Oasis tribute band, not the real thing, and the cheesy, swedish cheap emotions it channels are simply too much for me.
As for Shout it Out Loud was a decent b-side, as far as I remember. Also liked Just Getting Older and still think Heart of a Star should have been the album closer, because it's very good.

Heart of a Star is the single worst song Oasis ever recorded.

cannot be worse than Little x Little!! it's not that bad, is it? it's the classic Noel grand-ballad, surely better than Let There Be Love or any other acoustic ballad he's written for the latest records

I wish Liam sang the Hindu Times demo, musically it's so much better. Either way It's that much better I'll go with Noel's vocals over Liam just to have that version. The Heathen Chemistry E.P.01: The Hindu Times (Demo Version) 02: Hung In A Bad Place 03: Stop Crying Your Heart Out 04: Shout It Out Loud 05: Songbird 06: A Quick Peep 07: Thank You For The Good Times 08: Born On A Different Cloud It still isn't very good is it the 20 minutes silence after Better Man - Oasis

I'd go with:
01: The Hindu Times (can I cheat and have the demo with Liam on vox?) 02: Songbird (demo version) 03: Stop Crying Your Heart Out 04: Shout it Out Loud 05: A Quick Peep 06: (Probably) All in the Mind 07: Born on a Different Cloud 08: Better Man

In fact, it could be either version of Songbird. Just think the demo would fit better with the run of that EP. I'm not sure it even needs Shout it Out Loud on there.

I'd go with: 01: The Hindu Times (can I cheat and have the demo with Liam on vox?) No because it doesn't exist

i was rooting around a bunch of my old cd's that i'd dumped in my car and found one entitled 'Heathen Chemistry - Baz Version' so i stuck it on whilst driving to work. It had a cover of Thank You For The Good times by a shit old forummer called Daniel Gallagher on it in hysterics for the whole song does anyone remember him? he was a cevb b-side

01: Can You See it Now? (I Can See it Now) 02: Lyla 03: Love Like a Bomb 04: Eyeball Tickler 05: Pass Me Down the Wine 06: The Meaning of Soul 07: Part of the Queue 08: Keep the Dream Alive 09: A Bell Will Ring
The Importance of Being Idle can fuck right off.

Both albums are shite. DOYS was a return to form, mind. Just searched for The Hindu Times and Songbird demo and they're great, HC was completely butchered in the end

If dig out your soul ended after 'falling down', it'd be up there with their best. Unfortunately, the beady eye EP that ends it pretty much ruins the whole thing. (The nature of reality is only topped by 'the quiet ones' as the worst thing ever released under the oasis banner.)
DBTT was more consistently okay. Also it has the importance of being idle on it. Which, even though it convinced Noel that it's okay to sing in a falsetto in every damn song, is still a stone-cold classic.
My favourite era was probably the brotherly love tour through the noize and confusion tour through heathen chemistry leaking from the spring of 01 through the spring of 02. Just a great time to be a madferit. Hell...I even convinced myself that 'little by little' was the best song Noel had written since talk tonight at one stage. (I may have changed my mind on that in the last decade, though.)

Though I haven't listened to it in ages, I still think DOYS was a pretty decent record, better than anything since SOTSOG.
DBTT was OK, but it also represents the time when I feel out of love with Oasis, I was still pretty Madferrit97 during the HC tour, I even saw them a couple of times in Germany after winning a competition on Xfm.
I remember the exact moment my love for Oasis dwindled, it was at the Hammersmith Apollo gig, when they did the tour of smaller venues, they were so flat for the whole gig, it bored me to tears, I went and stood outside before the band finished. Even though it'll always be a special gig as it was the first gig I ever went to with KARL MAHONEY, it all felt a bit pedestrian.
The best time i'd ever seen them live was a Shepphers Bush on the noise and confusion tour in 2001 and they were amazing, cut to 2005 and I suppose my musical tastes had changed a lot, I had seen a lot more bands live, I'd probably seen The Libertines live about 8 or 9 times by this point and Oasis, with Zak plodding away and all the songs slowed down seemed totally irrelevant and lacking in any intensity or 'danger' (wanky word i know), that shrouded Libertines gigs.
I never saw them live again.
