I wonder what accent Alex Turner is going to have this year? I'm hoping for Bosnian.

I really don't care about this band at all anymore. Not because they've turned into huge turbo cunts, but even when I hear the old stuff I've little to no excitement for that kind of sound any longer.

Agreed. I saw them play a couple of tiny gigs before they went massive and generally enjoyed their first couple of albums. I even liked Crying Lightening. Now I just find their music lumpen and their public persona bizarre. I'm not expecting them to be wearing flat caps and writing about Sheffield but they just scream young millionaires unsure of how to handle themselves.

I really loved their last album, but the last time I saw them was at the osheaga festival in montreal in 2014, and I was flummoxed by the insane amount of 15 year olds who knew all the words to 'r u mine' and were silent during 'dancing shoes'. They've just passed me by, I guess, and I'm fine with that.

I've never been arsed about any of the Arctic Monkeys' albums but they're a good singles band. Their eventual best of will be solid.

As soon as it was announced that there would be no singles released prior to the album coming out I feared the worst. I've only heard 'Four Out of Five' from their appearance on Fallon last night and it's alright. I do love his voice and he's a brilliant lyricist but I'm not feeling the sound of the one track I've heard.

I couldn't even make it half way through. I might give it another chance but initial impressions are that it's poor as fuck. It's trying to be lots of things but fails miserably to be anything interesting. The lyrics (from what I heard) are abysmal, some real fucking clangers.
I enjoyed the last album but I don't think this one is going to do it for me.

I don't mind the direction they've gone in, but the songs just aren't strong enough. There's some nice flashes here and there but it is ultimately a very dull record.

Listened to it twice, and I don't remember a second of it, which for an arctics record is maybe the most damning thing I could say.

They (or should we say he) have gone the way nobody wanted, so kudos for doing what they/he felt like. But yeah, a bit dull. Unlike tucker I don't think they tried a lotof things, more like the opposite.

Unlike tucker I don't think they tried a lotof things, more like the opposite. Well, I mean they've (or he's) tried some weird new sound AND they've tried to write a sci-fi flavoured concept album driven by a story of a fictional band playing songs on the moon. That'a quite a stretch. Anyway, I've having a second listen through just now, and it's a bit more enjoyable the 2nd time around. Suppose you have to applaud them for not making AM Part 2. A lot of the people who were stiff for that album will hate this.

It doesn't matter if they've experimented or not. Music is either good or bad. and this is absolutely shit. The reviews have been a disgrace. Turner is getting away with murder. If he'd released 'My lovely horse' from Father Ted the critics would have took it seriously. The absolutely awful croon that he is now deploying is cringe X 100 like his mid atlantic accent. He's a tax dodger don't forget. He's never been a working class hero. He's disappeared so far up his own arse on this album that he'll never emerge again with any sort of dignity intact.
