haha me too. They've started to dress like Kings Of Leon, exactly what happened to Arctic Monkey's. Mind you I was petrified that the evil Jew Mark Ronson would ruin them last time around & he smashed it. Still shit scared.

Well, first listen and I'm relieved: it is a Black Lips record, probably a minor one though. Arabia was a big one for me, so following it was always going to be hard, also it's not like they have many things left to try, the formula gets exhausted. Thought many songs looked a bit rushed in and not so special, no big highlights but didn't find many stinkers either. Dog Years is an old song made with Bradford Cox under a different name I think. On other news

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have announced their third LP, the followup to 2011's excellent Belong. They'll release a new album called Days of Abandon on April 22 through Yebo. It was produced by Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Rós, the Kills). The cover art, above, was done by South Korean artist Lee Jinju. There's also a long tour planned in support of the record, with support from Eternal Summers and Fear of Men. Find the dates after the tracklist. Days of Abandon: 01 Art Smock 02 Simple and Sure 03 Kelly 04 Beautiful You 05 Coral and Gold 06 Eurydice 07 Masokissed 08 Until The Sun Explodes 09 Life After Life 10 The Asp at My Chest

Agreed with most of that. There's nothing wrong with it but they've really lost their edge. Everything feels a bit mid-tempo, especially the drumming. There's nothing here to smash shit up to. Well crafted tunes but that wasn't the reason I was a fan.

The Horrors have named their new album Luminous, released on May 5. New track 'I See You' below: Just made a thread about this tune having missed this post - surprised it hasn't got more attention on here tbh. The single is far poppier than I'd imagined, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but I prefer them when they've got a bit more of an edge to their sound. I see they're playing Field's Day (again).

btw Johnny, I don't know if you like the Doors at all but there's a tribute record on exy now with songs from Black Angels, Elephant Stone, Raveonettes, Dead Meadow & so on. Just put it on, pretty sweet so far.
Really love the new War On Drugs LP, might be my favourite of the year thus far. Their last record I wasn't so keen on but ended up really enjoying them live. Will have to revisit it. The new one has that same dreamy feel that Kurt Vile's LP from last year had, beautiful stuff.
Also really enjoying the new St. Vincent LP, will also have to listen to some of her previous records. Oh I gave Pharrell Williams's record a go out of curiosity & fucking hell is it infectious. Plenty of great pop/funk style tunes that arc back to the likes of Prince & Stevie Wonder, really enjoyed it.

The Hotelier - Home, Like No Place Is there
I downloaded this on just a chance. I knew nothing about it but decided to give it a go. Fantastic album it might be my fav album of the year right now (I can't decide between this and Cloud Nothings). If anybody gives it a go, let me know what you think.
p.s. I just noticed it was reviewed by P4K and it got an 8.2... great write up actually.

Can't get enough of that Angel Olson record, top stuff.
Anyone bothered with Elbow? Seems pleasant enough but a little tedious and tepid after 2 listens. Might be a grower, I suppose.
