Finally got the new Sleaford Mods LP. Exactly what I was hoping for, still the same rage and one-liners. Cunt Make It Up and Silly Me are great.

On first listen Kurt Vile new one starts pretty good but on the second half it all turned into a good old Kurt Vile haze. Still I think there's enough variety in there to hook me more than the last one, that left me quite cold.

Barny, I don't I've ever listened to Kurt Vile. I'll have to give it a go.
Anybody heard the new Seapony album yet? Suppose to be nice and jangly.
*Also it seems Ryan Adams is covering Taylor Swifts 1989 in full in the style of The Smiths...

Absolutely LOVING this right now... Sir Lord Von Raven - The Age of MachinesA double album packed with tunes. It's pretty retro-sounding, sometimes-ramshackle, rock and roll kind of affair. The vocals sometimes sound a bit rough around the edges and all over the place but it adds a little charm. It being a double album, I thought it would wear thin but it's just such a fun record. They had a debut album out in 2009 which I've not bothered with yet because I'm enjoying this so much but I'll definitely be checking it out.

I can't remember what's been posted here and what hasn't, but i'm absolutely loving 'Surf' by Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment.
It's essentially hip hop (Chance the Rapper is heavily involved I think) with lots more going on. It really is a brilliant listen- very positive, loads of instrumentation and experimentation.
it's Wiki page describes better than I can.
"Surf is the debut studio album by American band The Social Experiment; it was released exclusively on iTunes as a free download on May 28, 2015.[1] The album highlights trumpeter, Nico Segal (a.k.a. Donnie Trumpet), and was created by Segal along with his band of collaborators called The Social Experiment — a self-described group of bohemian musicians, consisting of Donnie Trumpet, Chance The Rapper, Peter Cottontale, Greg Landfair Jr. and Nate Fox. The album was highly anticipated because of Chance's heavy involvement with the group, contributing vocals and some of the arrangements to the album. Surf was downloaded 618,000 times via iTunes in its first week, with over 10 million individual track downloads."

I see there's a new Beach House record out soon, with rather shit title 'Depression Cherry'. Still, I loved the last album so will give it a go. Anyone else arsed?

Foals new one starts with two of the best songs of the year, both I had already heard. Then it goes downhill from there but a) it was only first listen and b) a month ago didn't care about them.

The girl from Alabama Shakes just released a fun, straight rock'n'roll record, you can listen to it here: www.thundabetch.com/listen/Or you can take that booooring endless thing Miley has done with the Flaming Lips.

Quite deceived with that The Arcs record (Dan Auerbach's side project), feels like a wasted chance. There's nothing here that wouldn't fit The Black Keys, production flourishes aside. And nothing's outstanding, not bad either but can't find a reason for it to exist or to give it another listen. Dispensable.
Edit: last track's pretty good though

Keeping on track with Barny's first listen opinions, the Richard Hawley one is absolutely delightful.
