some of it has properly knocked me back into my chair. the whole album hasn't worked its way in yet though, but i wouldn't expect it to yet. the levels of creativity are fucking unreal at times, really looking forward to it all working its way under my skin. absurdly talented individual.

Yeah, I agree with this point, it has some real standouts, but at the moment it's not sinking in as a whole. Only a couple of listens in mind. I went to see George Clinton do a Q&A last night and he spoke quite a bit about the collaboration (he's on the opening song), a lot of it has a very P-Funk, Bootsy era vibe to it, which is obviously quite a wonderful thing.

Two and a bit listens in- it's times like this I feel my journey to work isn't long enough.
There is so much going on, but it doesn't feel overproduced or cluttered to me. Every little flourish and idea feels like it fits. I'm desparate to go home just so I can stick my headphones on and listen again. It sounds SO good through headphones.

But yeah, I think it's only going to get better and better with repeated listens.
BY the way Kev- that George Clinton thing sounds amazing- where was it?

It was at amnesty international in Shoreditch, a Guardian sponsored thing. He's promoting his autobiography. It was pretty great, he's quite the raconteur as you can imagine.

The only criticism i have at the moment is that fake tupac interview at the end- it was an old edited tupac interview that Kendrick has inserted his own questions in. Cheesy as fuck.
Otherwise I think it's stunning.

On first listen new Cribs record is just another Cribs record. Was suposed to be an exploration of their poppiest side but it's just Cribs by numbers. It's not a bad thing per se as I do like their sound but the stagnation is a little worrying.

i really want to hear a modern guitar album that gets me excited. just seems like mainstream guitar music is terribly uninspired at the moment. barny, you got any recommendations?

The single Cribs have out is really dull. I'm upset because they were supposed to release two records, one very pop, and another with Steve Albini which was going to be the heaviest/loudest thing they've done but it seems that record is on the back-burner. Still look forward to the record though. Their last record I loved. I'm the same Baz, there are barely any guitar bands that do it for me lately. Maybe check out Connections, I'm obsessed with them, though nobody else seems fussed Anyway private airplane & into sixes have that energetic, care-free burst of excitement that I rarely get these days.

I prefer Into Sixes, that was a pretty good record. The last BIG guitar record I dug was Deerhunter's Monomania from 2013.

Courtney Barnett's is already released- ordered (in stock) from Norman's today. But, the bitch hasn't put it on Spotify yet so I can't listen to it on the way home
#firstworldproblems
Edited to admit i'm lying. It's pre-order. It's streaming in full though.

Kendrick's album...I can't decide if I absolutely love it or I absolutely hate it, but it is unquestionably the most fascinating album I've heard in a very long time.
