Looking forward to PJ Harvey's new album.
Apparently the recording sessions are open to the public.

Yeah, it's more of the same-old, he's starting to sound a little stale to me. Though I will say, the versions floating around on the web at the moment sound shit so definitely hold out for a better leak.
New Laura Marling is really wonderful. I've only heard it twice but it could well be up there with her last record. at 14 tracks there's definitely a few moments that I'm not sold on fully yet but fucking hell, she's so good.
Really like the Courtney Barnett record, I enjoyed both her EPs though personally found them patchy. I prefer it when her songs are more straight to the point & less drawn out & the new record for the most part manages that. Really good stuff.
Cribs, one listen, kind of like what Barny said. Perhaps a bit by the numbers Cribs. I'll never get tired of the Jarman roar, one of my favourite sounds in all of music is hearing them two belt out a chorus in sync. Not sure this will turn out to be a very memorable Cribs record though.

yeah new marling is wonderful. i can tell im going to properly get into her this year. i noticed that even though ive rated all her albums highly on rym ive never massively spent much time with them and never thought i was a big fan of hers.
cant wait to see her at latitude, gonna make sure i definitley see her this year.

The Gaz Coombes album is brilliant. I was a fan of Supergrass but never a super-fan. This might be the best thing I've heard by him.

On a few listens I've really enjoyed the new LM record - as with all of them. Find it really hard to pick a favourite out of all of them tbh.
The Cribs sounded a little bit "Cribs by numbers" but admittedly on a single listen.
How's Courtney Barnett live? She's playing at the Leadmill shortly and was tempted to pop down.

i saw courtney barnett live last year and it was decent. songs worked well live but she didnt have much in the way of stage presence. seeing her again in a couple of weeks so it'll be interesting to see if she's developed much as a live act over the past year.

Man that viet cong album is fucking great. Another great Canadian band. Yeah, it's killer. Someone was bemoaning the lack of decent guitar albums this year. Viet Cong, Sleater Kinney, Courtney Barnett, Gaz Coombes, The Amazing, Ex Hex. All decent for me.

Ex Hex is from last year and don't find Gaz one that good (and not very guitar oriented either).
Viet Cong's cool but a different beast.

Forget about guitars though, it's all about PIANOS this year. Tobias Jesso Jr., that's where's it's at.

The missus bought me the record from Rough Trade on Tuesday with wristbands to the in-store that night- but I went and put my back out and couldn't get off the sofa! Have tickets for the April gig though. I still think Avant Gardener might be the best track of the last few years and the line about playing guitar/stopping people dying might one of the best lines ever.

I wasnt keen on that Tobias Jesso jr record on first listen, i need to revisit. I've fallen for it so hard and there's no trick tbh: just a guy singing simple love songs on a piano. Shouldn't work, not again, but he does it so well and the production lets every song breath just like it should.

Gave the new BRONSON album a spin last week and was very underwhelmed by it, but having given it a few more listens it's really grown on me.
