I only had it on once in the background but yeah.. it sounded bloody terrible. I can just imagine Jack recording with a bunch of yes-men around him with nobody daring to tell him that this is a very bad idea. Parts of it sounded like those comedy records Ryan Adams gave away that he made in a single night when he was bored, but this has taken Jack 4 years to come up with.

Nah, I don't buy the yes-men idea. He said he went with some sketches and played with musicians he had never been with, apparently recorded it in a few weeks or days. It's just the weird parts sound unfinished and hurried, and the Jack White bits sound just by numbers and harmless. But I have warmed a bit to it, really, it's not what I desired at all but oh well.

The new Jack White- utterly brilliant. Completely incoherent, directionless and a bit bonkers, but just sounds brilliant. Every bit of it.
I suspect it'll split opinion like few other albums.
Edit : ha! Just read posts above.
Seriously, it's so good. A genius at work.
Who said an album has to have direction or make sense. It just sounds and feels so so good.

I would love to feel like that, but I don't enjoy listening to it that much. And it's not thaaat out there. But as I said I'm at peace with it already, starting to like it.
Forgot to say some weeks ago I read two long long interview pieces about Julian Casablancas and Jack White, who very well can be two of my biggest musical heroes. They felt so detached, so lost, so wrong in many levels. For different reasons. The opinions expressed were confused abd contradictory. There was a nice intention behind it all though. For some reason I felt a denial of what make them giants bacl then. At the same time they showed like a reborn feeling, like a discovery to how to still feel relevant. But I think they might have failed on that quest. It was a fun read though and my opinion might be biased too...

The MGMT guys were like that during the release of their selftitled. It might be my zillionth comment in their defense, but glad they have refound their strength again.
Regarding Jack White, haven't seen tempered reviews from the press. Either big big praise or big big disaster claims.

Jack White hasn't made a passable album in over a decade. Amazed people still treat him as credible.

Guys Soccer Mommy is great. I’ve only listened to it once but it was very enjoyable. I’ll definitely spend a bit more time with seeing as it’s making you so stiff.

heh I listened to Jack White properly today & quite enjoyed it. That'll teach me to give half-arsed first time listens while I'm doing something else, plus I think I wanted to hate it as the greedy cunt had decided to charge £60 for a gig at the fucking garage.

£60? Ouch. But, the Garage. Didn't think he'd play smaller venues any more. I think I'd probably stump up for that.

The singer from Aerosmith is charging £120 for a gig with his new blues band at the forum That is hilarious. Apparently some of the Libertines tickets for their Meltdown gig at RFH were sixty quid. The world's gone mad.

I kind of expect that for RFH though, I don’t mind seated venues charging top dollar for the best seats as long as there are sensibility priced affordable options.
But yeah, feels like libertines should still be £13.50 a ticket
