I have never listened to a Nirvana album. I might try some day soon but I just can't seem to muster up the will to turn one on. I think my friend being a big fan always put me off growing up. I still haven't had the 'courage' to listen to them. Although I have been listening to Albini lately talk about the recording of In Utero .. so now I am tempted.

I was once in a band called Damnosa. Aged 18, I answered a musicians wanted ad (I could play nothing but decided I was going to be a frontman). The lad who placed it was in his mid-20s and really into progressive rock like Tool and Dream Theatre. I was into Oasis bootlegs and Bob Marley.
He could play serious guitar but decided to stick me up front and see what happened anyway. In an odd way, it kinda worked. For a short period at least. We got a bass player and a drummer and worked up a set that included one cover chosen by each of us. I chose Made of Stone. The guitar player chose Stinkfist by Tool š
We played precisely three gigs, including a University Goth Society night. The sound engineer described us as the āquietest metal band Iāve ever heardā.
We did write our own material, at least one song was actually pretty decent (popular forum member forever can confirm). I wish I still had our demo, but I think itās now lost.
Iād like to think we remain the only band ever to cover the Stone Roses and Tool in the same set.

I read all that trying to connect it with Nirvana but only by the end went back to the thread name.
Anyway, loved this bit -> The sound engineer described us as the āquietest metal band Iāve ever heardā

1. BlurĀ - I have never listened to a full record by them Similar for me. I think I might've listened to their comeback album a few times, but never listened to a whole record of theirs before it. Been putting it right today, starting from Think Tank and going backwards. Battery In Your Leg is a great song.

I spent at least 20 years of my adult life pretending (or even thinking) I was too cool to like Abba.

I'm not too cool for Abba.. I just don't think I'll ever reach a point in my life where I'll actually choose to listen to one of their songs. 40 years of hearing them on a daily basis on Radio & TV has killed any desire to ever listen.

Think Tank is a patchy record, though probably 3 quarters of it is gold.

Anyone remember James Moon posting on the masterplan forum? Remember his terrible band Waiger? And the equally terrible song āHavinā It Largeā?
Well I bought the EP it was on, he was a mate of a mate and I felt I had to purchase it. He even sent me a Waiger badge which Iāve still got, the CD got binned years ago.

listenin on the SPOTIFY now, wow! even better than I remembered. The kinda punk attitude that is so sadly missing from these silly new bands.
