yeah yeah i was the first who mentioned odd future and i'm constantly on top of the curve, but what's the fucking point. it's not about music anymore it's about who can find the hottest shit of the week first. everything is hyperspeed, new bands release debuts and they get hyped and then they tour and by their second album no-one cares.
my friend tried to book kinights of the round table to play at his club nite. he/she/them was too expensive for just one night in finland so he asked another mate who works at a bigger venue if they'd book them too. "aren't they kind of past it already?" was the answer. their debut album was going to be released that week or the week after that.
the headlining acts at primavera were flaming lips(who were really shit btw), pulp and pj harvey/animal collective. hardly new bands eh? there will be no more big bands. everything is too fragmented, too hectic, too "sound of the day"
internet has destroyed music

Sounds like Bab's in hurting from the fact it was me who brought Odd Future to these parts.
I wouldn't be suprised if Bab's and Baz were sat on MSN right now discussing how to destroy my credibility on here. It's rather fucking sad if you ask me.
As for Knights Of The Round table i had them play my club night 3 months ago.

What does that signature of yours say Karl? I certainly don't see the Finn's name mentioned, he's only just seen them live FFS. As for Baz he's staking a claim that he introduced them, the pair of them don't know if they are coming or going.
What we do know for sure is though, when OF came and played in the UK on the day of the Royal Wedding (a gig they played as a favour to me) Baz took himself out of the country.
ZING!!!

I will bet 1000000 MILLION POUNDS with ANYONE that shit horse, Odd Future & Action Bronson will be the headliners for Glastonbury next year.
* there is no Glastonbury next year, otherwise they would of been the headliners.

The one thing the internet has changed in relation to "big bands" is that it takes acts longer to get big because theres so much more music people are exposed to if they use the internet as a discovery tool.
That's a good thing and a bad thing. Its a good thing because a band (not talking pop like Katy Perry/Gaga/Bieber) has more time to hone their craft. Its a bad thing because shit like Kings of Leon goes from raw to pompous. Its a double edged sword.
Bands are also a lot more focused on touring now because of how sales have dropped. The fans win in that respect.

who gives a shit that massive bands/acts don't exist anymore? you'd probably have been moaning in the 60's that people only liked the same 2-3 bands

big bands/artists that didn't exist before 2005: lady gaga Well on the contrary, look at an act like The National. No, they're not megastars and they were never going to be, but their exposure is a LOT larger now than it was when they first came on the scene and it took them a while to get here. Same with acts like Arcade Fire. It takes a lot more dedication to get big these days, along with the quality. Megabands are definitely dying out, but why is this is a bad thing? Most megabands are complete crap and have been for 30 years. Who wants more U2s and Muse's?

I'm thinking of throwing a festival out my back garden next year and i don't want to name names just yet, but you'll not be disappointed. I'll sort you and Sam out with VIP passes, Baz you ain't invited.

big bands/artists that didn't exist before 2005: lady gaga How many artists can release one record & be that huge? Only pop artists usually. The bands you listed as headliners for that festival Flaming Lips, Pulp & to some extent Animal Collective had been about for absolutely years before reaching the point they could headline festivals. In Pulp, PJ Harvet & Flaming Lips case much more than 6 years. You argue that music is just 'sound of the day' then appear to be complaining that only lady gaga is HUGE enough. Just seems a really strange argument.
