Good to great year so far really for me, best of the last 5 years.
Lucky Soul - Coming of Age: a bit disappointed 7/10 Pete Molinari - A Train Bound For Glory: 7/10 Divine Comedy - Bang Goes The Knighthood: 10/10: great record BRMC - Devil's Tattoo: 6/10 Black Keys - Brothers: 6/10 (not their best, but their most popular, it seems) Harlem - Hippies: 7/10 The School - Loveless Unbeliever: 7/10 Kula Shaker - Pilgrim's Progress: 10/10 (album of the year so far) The Booze - Rebirth Of The Cool: 9/10 The Like - Release Me: 7/10 (make up for the loss of The Pipettes) Pokey Lafarge - Riverboat Soul: 8/10 Dr Dog - Shame Shame: 8/10 She & Him Vol 2: 7/10 Karen Elson - The Ghost Who Walks: 7/10 The Vinyl Stitches EP: 5/10 promising band, but the LP has to be more varied
A lot of the hyped indie bands failed to covince me. The Strange Boys are good songwise but their singer is too annoying.

Fuck I forgot totally the divine comedy had a new one, they are a band I just know I'm going to decide I love when I eventually get my head around their discography. Everytime I go to put them on I put on that duckworth lewis record which is so much fun.

Seen Neil Hannon live two weeks ago. Alone with only a piano or a guitar, he blew everyone away. Such a great artist, he's a genius.
The Strange Boys' Be Brave record is good, but like i said, the singer tries too hard and in the end sounds like a dick. I think that put a lot of people off this band.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I don't really mind it at all. Think they've turned a little dull after their first record, and the bitrate of the leak was incredibly shit tbh.

I can't think of much I'm looking forward to for the rest of 2010 minus the 2nd Eels LP. Starting to think I've hit the point in life where I give up with new music and just stick with the shit I've liked forever not looking forward to the new charlatans? whether it's shit or not remains to be heard, but at this point i'm still excited about it.

I totally forgot Charlatans have a record out, not overly excited about it but definitely looking forward to hearing it. I reckon Barat's solo will be shit but we'll see.

I dont know. I quite liked Dirty pretty things mellow tracks and it's said to be in that vein, baroque piano style songs. It'll still be better than doherty's solo anyway

I don't know how you guyz can absorb that much new music. In the 1st half of the year, I've spent a lot of time with this album: Midlake-Courage of other (music to write your dissertation to) Get Well Soon-Vexations and mostly: Sadly, I was a bit disappointed at 1st, but it turned out to be an amazing grower. I wish he was better known around these parts. And yay! Arcade Fire in august.

Not sure what the hell the gruff one will be like, could be a bit much to take but Grinderman should deliver. Had a listen to some bits & pieces this morning. First thoughts were: Divine Comedy's new one sounded really good, some great crafted pop songs with some clever, topical lyrics. Can see it growing too. Crystal Castles was horrible not my thing at all, actually seemed even more tuneless than their debut to me, don't think I'll try with that again can't see myself performing a U-turn with that. The Soft Pack really hit the spot, sounded real good on first listen, unconvinced that it'll still sound as exciting in 10 listens time but for now I'm really liking it. Richard Ashcroft, man this is a crazy album, he's always been a bit spiritual but this sounded like some crazy Christian rock at one point a few massive tunes, a few that really made me cringe but saying that it sounded like the best thing I've heard him do solo. & Ariel Pink, well after one listen I don't have a fucking clue what to make of it. That was an odd experience, think I'll need a good few listens to make any kind of decision on that.
