There are some painfully shit songs on there - I'd be happy if I never heard Go Easy, Let Us Down Easy, Natural Ghost, Sink Ships (aka U2), Evergreen or Like Yesterday again That's half the record! Have high hopes for III/IV though Love is Hell on atm - Anybody Wanna Take Me Home is phenomenal and in its rightful place on here rather than RnR Go Easy, Natural Ghost, Sink Ships and Evergreen = heavy tunes. ;D

oh well
I stick by my guns that there are 2 types of Ryan fan
The Pre and Post Cold Roses crowd. Yes there are overlaps but have completely differing opinions on quite a few records

I'm definitely pre-Cold Roses. Heartbreaker > life itself.

If i was forced to choose a side, im Pre- Cold Roses. Take into account the unreleased stuff, whiskeytown and the HEARTBREAKER (it deserves capitals) and gold 1-2. and thats the sort of collection of work, that makes him one of the greats.
in saying that im not trying to take away from cold roses onwards, because hes made some amazing, great music which means alot to me, but the earlier era would win for me.

Heartbreaker, Gold, Demolition, Rock N Roll, Love Is Hell -- Cold Roses, Jacksonville City Nights, 29, Easy Tiger, Cardinology
Initially I was going to say that I'm a Cold Roses onwards type of man but having typed it out like I have above then I'm less sure. It's a lovely thing to think about though. What a fantastic man.

I'm pre-Roses cause of Whiskeytown too, I mean, they don't make 'em like that anymore, do they?

Somehow the only two albums I don't have are heartbreaker and gold. (However gold is on its way to me at this very moment.) But that said, I love the stuff with the cardinals far more than love is hell or rock'n roll. 29 is awesome, though.

Just finished it. So it is supposed to be two records? As usual with all Ryan's releases I'm gonna be the first to say that it could of been a great 12 track album but I guess he'll never learn to edit himself. I'm really surprised how un-cardinal's sounding the whole thing is. Was only a couple of tracks I would of guessed was with them. Theres about 8 that sound Rock N Roll era of which a few feel a bit forced & goofy though they are short & fun so I have no complaints.
First impressions (& I know a lot of people hate Rock N Roll but whatever, I dig it) it's my favourite material he's put out since Love Is Hell/Rock & roll.
Has got me even more excited for what his record(s?) due out next year.

After one listen I thought it was pretty good. It does seem like the Cardinals version of Rock N Roll. It is a double album, but most songs are pretty short. I think the goofy tone of some of the album (Numbers) is intentional, and that's fine. It made for a fun album.

Am listening to it right now, for the first time. Sounds pretty good. Can understand the Rock N Roll comparisons even though I thought that album, apart from a few tracks, was absolutely shit
