Unlocked the keys to this today- its really really good. funs first word that springs to mind, much freer than cardinology, and hell i still like that record. Lovely and Blue is still supreme, once finally finished, and the whole of it is just good rock n roll.

Haha yeah but he's in his 'retired' mode at the moment. Recorded some music last year which I was excited about, but apparently he's said he just did it for himself and doesn't want it released. God knows what goes on in his head, but I guess we'll just see what happens...

He got pissed off because his label fucked up a lot of shipping on the record (people who preordered in November and still just getting their records THIS WEEK) and t-shirts his store was selling, so people complained. Typical Ryan stuff, he gets super involved and then freaks out once someone says something negative. So now he's taken his ball and gone him for the time being.
I think he thought it would be easier and fun to have his own label. Then the one guy, apparently, who did ALL the shipping or whatever for PaxAm broke his jaw and it all went to shit, everyone started complaining, Ryan wrote a post on the Ryan Adams Archive saying all future pax-am releases (Blackhole, new album, other Cards album) were cancelled and that was that.
So basically if he stops being a bitch and gets someone else to run his shit but he still has a say in design, concept and whatever of the records then everything will go fine. Otherwise we could be dealing with this on again/off again bullshit for years to come. It gets tiring, we just want to hear the music!
