An enjoyable 6.5/10 album for me,
tap out, welcome to japan, slow animals, chances.
.....are the standout tracks.
Chances in particular, I'm blown away by this.
The rest is quite average/bad.
It's probably better than Angles, but doesn't break into the holy trinity of the debut, follow up, and first impressions of earth.
First impressions was bloated and inconsistent, but a song like you only live once would be deemed a classic in any era.

I agree with axl but I am gonna bump my rating to a 7. I'm in the middle of my second listen and I like a lot of bits on it. Was hoping I could say something like "I REALLY LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF THIS" but alas that never happens with anything so I'm not sure what I'm bitching about.

Is anyone listening to those original m4a files? They seem to be lacking treble. Can anyone confirm this?

For what it is, itĀ“s pretty good. Interesting things going on, however it feels to me like casablancasĀ“ unique voice is being wasted by too much effect and falsetto singing (which is not his strength at all)

the falsetto works really well on chances, but its really fucking annoying on pretty much everything else. The last song is ridiculous Bring back the crescendo croon.

You just can't realistically put an accurate number rating on any album based on one and a half listens, IMO. The album (and more specifically, all of the effects and falsettos with Julian's voice) grated on me for the first few listens. Was working on a big proposal at work this week and locked myself in my office for 8 hours and ended up hammering the entire album on repeat and now, cannot stop listening to it. For me, it's only behind Is This It and Room On Fire, which are two of my favourite albums of all time. I rate it about an 8 or 8.5.

That is fair, which is why I just sprawled a couple sentences about my initial thoughts, not an entire review.

Just fucking hit him Bakester. You are the manliest man I know on the internet. If I was as big and vital as you I wouldn't take shit like that, especially from a Mexican.
