i definitley prefer pissed up off his face on coke jason to the teetotal gym freak jason though. Absolutely. But he's still enough of an edgy bastard to retain my interest. As you said his twitter chat can still get heated I guess it's not too dissimilar to what happened with The Streets. Skinner was far more famous but he was still the edgy urban poet who suddenly got loaded. And who ever listens to the third Streets album now?

Listened to macca's new one a few times. It's pretty good, but about 4 songs too long. As always, quality control isn't exactly his strong suit. I've tried to listen to it on my commute but it's so long I end up skipping two or three tracks in the back third to get to the end. 14 songs, including two suites/medleys - the opener ("I don't know") is very good, "Fuh you" is annoying at first (it sounds very 2017-18 minor chart hit, thanks to producer Ryan Tedder) but ends up stuck in your head, "Hand in hand" is haunting, and "Despite repeated warnings" is epic and beautiful musically, but a bit ham-fisted lyrically. The "Screw it, we're just gonna talk about The Beatles" podcast did a good listening party/review episode last week.

That new Suede record is a bit dramatic isn't it? I've not heard anything they've done since the Tears record so no idea if they always sound like this these days, but they seem to have a taste for really poor 80s metal riffs now plus the first 3 or 4 synth notes on Chalk Circles is MR PERFECT's theme tune!

Terribly pompous, aye.

The 2 before it, Bloodsports & Night Thoughts, they're pretty good. This new one, yeah, it's just WTF. Will it be a grower? Doubtful I think, but who knows.

Brett Anderson is rarely understated but I never thought I'd see the day he'd try to re-write the fucking Ring Cycle. The album has its moments but it's easily the weakest of the three post-reunion albums.

The best song in Weller's record is an instrumental bonus track.

decent release day today. really liked the new cat power on first listen and got quite a few other releases lined up to listen to.
one that seems to have gone under the radar but ive been impressed by is peaced and slightly pulverized by david nance group. i'm getting slight neil young/war on drugs vibes and it's real good with some epic solos.

New Cloud Nothings in a few weeks. Hopefully it's less produced than the last one.

Really loving the new John Grant album. Wasn't much of a fan of his last one but this new one seems like a real return to form.

Good lord, primal screams Memphis recordings are absolutely breathtaking. Automatically my favourite new record of the year. The songs are so pure and the production is excellent. They sound like theyโre playing right next to me. Wow.

"Remember that time when Primal Scream decided to follow up one of the greatest albums of all-time with a really terrible set of 2nd rate Rolling Stones songs? Well now you can hear the same songs again, yet somehow even cheesier & now sounding like a 2nd rate version of The Black Crowes!"

I was surprised you didn't love it off the bat considering you've turned into a cotton wool jumper wearing beard scratching folk pervert. Though it's hard to love a record when the artwork is that hideous.

I went to check your Weller Ranked list on RYM to see how you compared it to the rest of his back catalogue but of course like everything else you start, you hadn't kept up the list.

Whatever bruv, until you've rated my entire back catalogue on RYM you're dead to me.
Anyone desperate for some new Nick Cave. Her new album is nothing special but this "co-wrote" tune is pure Nick Cave.

LONGVIEW lead singer rob mcvey is now marianne faithfull's guitarist and played on this record.
