karl, you need to start the end of year lists thread. it's normally any time now that the lists start appearing in the press. rough trade normally kick things off mid november.

i'm predicting either courtney barnett or parquet courts for the soapbox album of the year.

Rough Trade's list is out but Karl hasn't started the thread and fuzzydunlop is being slack posting media lists again.

Shame got the Rough Trade number 1 BTW.

That's a... bold choice. And I like that album.

Good lord.

That Monkeys album is truly awful and I will call out anyone who attempts to pad their lists with it.

Anyone who has that or the jack white album in their top 1000 should be committed.

I'm proudly including Arctic Monkeys on mine. I'd like to put Jack's too but, well, I won't.

as i'm an old man, my list is often most similar to uncut/mojo nowadays but as it stands my provisional top 40 only has 10 entries in the mojo list and 11 in uncuts. INCLUDING ONLY 1 OF UNCUTS TOP 10.

New The Good, The Bad & The Queen is like a long soft resigned sigh. I mean, if that's your best comeback to Brexit then you're in a bad place.

Come on, it's Cypress-fucking-Hill.  It's beyond funny that they are included on a list like this, especially when it's placing above the likes of Parquet Courts & Gaz Coombes.

And while I wholeheartedly disagree that the Arctic Monkeys' album isn't the second best album of this year, it doesn't shock me that some of the music sites / mags rate it so highly because people will always be pretty hard for them no matter what they put out.  Also, I do actually quite like the album.
