I’ve never given Yorkston the time of day as I can’t fucking stand King Creosote, who signed him.. An absolute walloper. I do however have a lot of time for the Pictish Trail.
Stay tuned for more hot takes on ageing folk musicians from Fife!

I'll admit to not knowing much King Creosote but they did make this and it is pretty great
I saw him at Tower Records in 02 at some all day thing with Electric Soft Parade. I can't remember much about his performance. Though I must give him credit, he performed at one of my favourite gigs of all time playing guitar for Daniel Johnston at Union Chapel.
The uptempo stuff delivers every time. Some big chorus' on those tunes. Some of the slower tunes miss the sport though. (S)he(?) should have gone balls to the wall on the big tunes (pun intended). It received a decent score on my 2023 album scores tracker spreadsheet. In 11.5 months I'm going to show Kev what real data manipulation looks like, BABY.
This Dave Rowntree album is fucking terrible. Jesus christ. What a cunt. Who signed this off? Who sent it to print? Who pressed send? Someone must be held accountable.
The Dave Rowntree record is completely forgettable, though I didn't think it was awful. Though it's probably a case of me going in expecting the worst & my reaction just being a big barny style MEH. The single made me think we was getting 45 minutes of sub-par LCD Soundsystem tunes, but reality is the record sounds like a bunch of Albarn solo rejects. Perhaps if I start that rumour it'll become folk law like Billy Corgan writing the big Hole album.
First listen of the new GBV record was not a positive one. Really struggling with the latest releases, too polished, too ROCK. Wish he'd get back to making records that sound like total shit again.
