Italia 90 has a couple of big tunes but overall nothing special. I thought Murder Capital was bland. I remember liking the debut but this has no balls. SuperGaz is winning 2023 still so far.I have to agree. About The Murder Capital record, I wasn't overly keen on first listen, but I've enjoyed it more on subsequent listens. Not saying it's an amazing album or gonna be the best of 2023 but I dig the whole vibe. Not as loud and ballsy as the first one but thats okay!

Billy Nomates for me, Tux.
I like lots about the Gaz Coombes record, and think it is good, but missing something to love. Do you catch my drift?
Where as Billy No Mates has big silly chorus's and shit. Hoping Feb is a bit more fruitful. Lots to play for.

Some early stand outs from Jan.
2023 is almost certainly gonna be Titch's Year of the Jazz with notable efforts already.
Marcus Strickland Twi-Life - The Universe's Wildest Dream
Lakecia Benjamin- Phoenix
Andrew Wasylyk- Parallel Light
Kit Downes, Sebastian Rochford- A Short Diary
Kawashima/Mochizuki/Henritzi- Chinmoku wa Ishikure ni Yadoru Bouryoku
Ivan the Tolerable- Black Water/Brown Earth
Nostalgia 77- The Loneliest Flower in the Village
Otherwise enjoying these. The C.I.A. is Ty Segall and his missus. A fine noise.
James Yorkston, Nina Persson, The Second Hand Orchestra- The Great White Sea Eagle Rozi Plain- Prize Declaime, Mad Lib- In the Beginning (vol.3) Molly- Picturesque Ryuichi Sakamoto- 12 The C.I.A. - Surgery Channel Meg Baird- Furling Samia - Honey

The Waeve album made me quite angry this morning. No one needs a Graham Codon lounge pop album FFS. He doesn't have the voice or the tunes for it.

Oh, and the album you never knew you needed released today is HiFi Sean & David McAlmont's Happy Ending.
Someone recommended it to me and haven't seen it advertised anywhere.
A just joyous summery pop record. A real headphone one as the production is amazing. Some of the melodies 😍😍

Already got a sizeable list of things to check out for 2023. Hope I can keep up.
Didn't think I'd enjoy an instrumental Mac Demarco album but got it on while preparing tea and cleaning the kitchen and it's a pleasant surprise.

The Waeve album made me quite angry this morning. No one needs a Graham Codon lounge pop album FFS. He doesn't have the voice or the tunes for it. I thought this was a bit harsh on first listen as the production is nice and some other stuff. I felt like I'd listened forever and turns out I was at the end of track 3 with hours left to go. Off you fuck. 2023 is turning into a real stinker of a year for Blur. Rowntree and Coxon both releasing absolute mush and they've barely sold a ticket for the second night at Wembley. A lot of pressure on The Gorillaz album to turn the tide.

The new Young Fathers record is officially a banger. As someone who has followed their career for 15 years, this is the kind of endorsement that will mean a lot to the band*. It's just tune after tune on the first half. Tails off a bit at the end. Hopefully I'll convince my Mrs to let me out the house long enough to see them live in a few weeks.

Thanks for the recommendation, sounds pretty nice.
Anyway as I'm not kev (nor I have a dog called kev) and won't include an EP in my album list, plus as it's only February you can make another one later on

I'm obsessed with a garage rock/power pop record by a guy called TEE VEE REPAIRMANN from Australia. I'm not sure anyone else will feel the same way I do about it but anyway, it's like crack to my ears.
That, SuperGaz & the new Go! Team, other than that it has been a real slow start to 2023 for me album wise.

Young Fathers is better than 95% of the albums you rated last year.
No, I didn't listen to them all!

Yeah, Young Fathers really is excellent. Might have crept up to being my favourite so far this year. But also, The Go! Team is soooo good.

Go Team is fine but probably one of their weakest, there are a couple underrated ones on their career and at this point they're not bringing much new.
Young Fathers thought would grow on me but actually not, I feel it's missing something (rym says karl totally hated it).
TV Repairmann is fine for what it is but I doubt I'll come back to it too often.
Been a big fan of Tennis for a while, their new one is easily their worst even if there are a couple cool moments.
Shit year so far.

I guess I'm a weird Go! Team fan, as my favourite is not the debut.
1 The Scene Between 2 Thunder, Lightning, Strike 3 Rolling Blackouts 4 Get Up Sequences Part One 5 Proof Of Youth 6 Semicircle 7 Get Up Sequences Part Two
Not a big difference on 4-7, all of them quite decent anyway
