RYM has a huge metal community on there. I've noticed some bizarre loyalty they have to bands they like, such as people giving every single Metallica record 5 stars.
Whenever I used the charts on RYM I always disable metal. Not to say that I completely hate the genre. I do have a soft spot for some of the original British Heavy Metal bands plus occasionally enjoy a modern Sludge Metal record but yeah, best avoided when it comes to RYM

I found a hack that makes the RYM charts bearable: filter the chart search to users aged 35-49. It magically gets rid of all the hip-hop, the Japanese cartoon music, the genres that end in -wave (vaporwave, chillwave, shitewave...), internet music etc.

Hoping to get the end of year lists thread on the go this week, Uncut's review of the year out on Thursday. Rest assured I will be camped overnight outside WH Smiths to grab it first thing in the morning and post the results live from outside the store. Or I'll just copy it off someone else on the internet when it appears, either way.

new Lemonheads single was up on spotify this morning for a few hours, then disappeared.
Short 2 minute catchy tune, was good, better than I expected tbh

What an amazing cast for the just announced Adam Green tribute album. Those are usually borderline tacky but so many great and different acts in there: Cribs, Libertines, Lemonheads, Jenny Lewis, Lemon Twigs, Devendra, Regina Spektor, FJM... This isn't mindblowing, but how many albums can you say have a new song from Jenny Lewis into The Lemonheads into The Libertines into...?

yeah, the lineup is STACKED. Though most the performances sound like they recorded them in one take on their Iphone. Still, kinda cool isn't it? I quite fancy seeing Adam next year, he's doing a tour with strings.

Though most the performances sound like they recorded them in one take on their Iphone. And he wouldn't like it any other way. Seeing him live with strings sounds cool tbh. That makes me think of Mac DeMarco, who seemed close to entering his Sinatra phase a few years ago which could have worked... and instead started releasing unfinished demos and instrumentals since

I am seeing the band Slow Pulp in April. I never heard of them but I haven absolutely hammering the album 'Yard' by them the past few weeks.
I haven't loved an album this strong in a long while (maybe Skinty Fia).
I cannot get over how good it is !
