Just about one month until the first publication end of year list is revealed. Will need to check a few out as I think I can scrape together a top 10 at the moment but not much more than that. New Goat album on Friday at least theartsdesk.com/new-music/album-goat-medicine

Once October is out the way I shall begin my reflective meditation where I begin to consider the most important thing in life, my soapbox end of year top 40.

I've had a rolling spreadsheet updated throughout the year. Artist, album, initial thoughts, best track and, of course, album rating.
I've now instigated phase two whereby I re-listen to key albums, and those with possibly wonky scores (Is the Weave album really that shit? (Yes)), to confirm the hierarchy. Of course new albums are still being added in abundance.
It is a hell of a buzz.
Locked and Loaded for December.

Based on Karl's comment I was expecting the levels of pain I experienced when Rob Harvey started crooning halfway through The Streets album but this is alright tbh.

I did a LOL whilst out and about today when Harvey's vocals kicked in on Bright Sunny Day.

Mediocre but not that bad... I guess/hope this is the comeback single and the rest of it won't sound like it.
I quite dig their 3rd one btw, what does the Soapbox make out of it?

Yeah I listened to the third album again the other day and really enjoyed it. New single isn't great though. Too much Carl when we all know Pete is the star.

I listened to every Big Pete song on spotify a few months back. I remember liking the 3rd quite a bit at the time but it didn't hold up very well. Still OK I guess, 5 good tunes.

That 3rd Libertines album is rancid.
The new Allah-Las is good though. Not sure about 'Jelly' but the rest is decent.

What an amazing cast for the just announced Adam Green tribute album. Those are usually borderline tacky but so many great and different acts in there: Cribs, Libertines, Lemonheads, Jenny Lewis, Lemon Twigs, Devendra, Regina Spektor, FJM...
